I bought a pair of these initially to see if it would improve the quality of the BBC iPlayer service on our TV which, connected to our router via a wireless dongle, was very ropey. The bad news was that the Power LAN Adapter made no difference, the poor quality of the iPlayer service was simply down to the low speed of our broadband connection and no amount of tinkering with the downstream router connections would fix this.

The good news was that my wife had been experiencing poor performance on her laptop, which, given that it was an XPS15 with an i7 cpu should not have been the case. A swift check showed that it was the useless Intel Centrino 1000-N wireless NIC that was at fault. In order to keep the laptop online whilst I sourced a replacement NIC I connected it to our network using the Power LAN Adapters - this worked straightaway, providing a fast and reliable connection and incidentally proving that the wirelees NIC was at fault.

All in all, this is an ideal solution if you have devices that need a reliable network connection which your wireless setup is unable to provide. Even if your wireless setup is OK it's a good idea to have a couple of these on hand just to provide backup in case you have a NIC issues or if you need to connect something that is out of range. You can also get the cheaper HP-2003 version that doesn't have the pass-through design but if you're a bit tight on free sockets then it's probably worth paying the bit extra for the HP-2003.

Note that the instructions state not to connect the Power LAN Adapters via powerstrips however I found that ours worked fine given that powerstrips were all we had free anyway.

I was using my computer as a music server to a Netgear MP101 music player hooked up to my HiFi system. Due to the distance in between them, the WiFi connection kept 'dropping out'. A wired connection was out of the question, again due to the length of cable needed so I purchased 2 Edimax HP-2002AC Powerline LAN adapters. These worked straight out of the box, no setting up required, so now the music server works perfectly. Another good point is that you don't lose a wall socket due to them having a through connector. Thoroughly recommended.

When this item works it is great, but it stops working for no apparent reason and then starts working again a few minutes later.
In fairness the problem could be with our mains wires or something that plugs in to our mains that courses interference, but I have searched the internet for solutions and have found nothing.
I am an IT professional and understand networks, but the control panel doesn't allow you to do anything useful and the instructions are poor.
    Sorry to be negative.
