Edimax Wireless LAN PCMCIA,
By Graham (Cheshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Edimax EW-7108PCG Wireless LAN PCMCIA Card 802.11b/g 54Mbps (Ralink) (Electronics)
I was looking for a wireless network card that I could be confident would work in an old laptop with Linux (Xubuntu). The Edimax offering was supposed to work "out of the box", and although I seemed to suffer a glitch on the first day that I tried it, I have put that experience down to being just a glitch. Since then it has worked fine. The large black tab on the card protrudes from the computer. It bears two useful LEDs: one to show that the computer has recognised the card, the other to show that wireless data transfer is happening.

Edimax Ubuntu Linux success,
By Mark "Mark" (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Edimax EW-7108PCG Wireless LAN PCMCIA Card 802.11b/g 54Mbps (Ralink) (Electronics)
Worked out of the box on Ubuntu 9.04, and WPA encryption, unobtrusive in the port, with an LED for connection and one for activity, LED not too bright so doesn't disturb at night. Very good wifi performance teamed with a router running DD-WRT. Really pleased, for a manufacturer I had never heard of I will look for their products again. Tested in Packard bell Igo 6400

Edimax Wireless PMCIA,
By Viv (Devon, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Edimax EW-7108PCG Wireless LAN PCMCIA Card 802.11b/g 54Mbps (Ralink) (Electronics)
Card arrived quickly. It works really well in both Linux (Mandriva 2009) and Windows XP. Good WIFI performance. I can thoroughly recommend it to people who dual boot Linux and Windows.
September 2009 - I would like to append some addl info as I have just bought another of these cards, for my husband's laptop, an old IBM Thinkpad. Once again it works great (fast, stable connection) and is very easy to set up. My husband is running Suse 11.1 - once again no problems at all configuring the wifi.
