A brilliant album which deserved far more exposure than it got in the UK. The six albums are all worthy of a place on anyones CD rack but this one is seminal. It surely is Led Zeppelin crossed with The Doors and bought smack up to date. Lots of wierd instrumentation and effects. Click on the Tracks & give them an ear."Fire in the Head" & "Bazaar" kick it all off perfectly but there are no duff tracks here, right thru "Sister Awake" (a beautiful song about India) and "Lamp down low" to finish on the money with "Walk with me". A perfectly realised album.

The Tea Party Master Piece,

When Tea Party released their debut "Splendor Solis" back in 1993 it seemed they had set their standards so high that the second album would never compare. In 1995 "The Edges of Twilight" proved that the difficult second album needn't be quite so difficult. Rockier than its predecessor, TEOT boasts tunes which are dramatic, fiery and moving. Like the debut album the sound of this record is hard to categorise. Kicking off with "Fire in the Head" and "Bazaar" you would call this a proper Hard Rock album until the acoustic softness of "The Badger" and "Shadows" alongside the Gary Moore-esque "Drawing Down the Moon" make you think otherwise. The Eastern flavour still runs through many of the tracks and the unique sound of the band and Jeff's unmistakeable voice create music so special that this album is still one of my favourite collection of tunes 11 years on. This for me is the highlight of the Tea Party collection and it provides the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to dip into their music.

I heard this for the first time over a year ago in Sydney, Australia. I got chatting to some locals in a bar across the road from our hostel about the music that was playing - one part Chris Cornell, two parts Screaming Trees, a sprinkle of The Doors. Exhilarating stuff. I was told it was a Canadian band called The Tea Party and I've only just managed to get a copy a week or so ago. Classic husky-voiced rock with a shed-load of Eastern influence and unorthodox instrumentation for good measure. Opener 'Fire In The Head' and the delicate instrumental 'The Badger' are standouts. The fact that a Canadian band are one of my strongest memories from a holiday of a lifetime to Australia is testement to its quality. But, then again, Silverchair just dont do it for me.
