The story continues where it left off from the Eden of the East TV series, and brings Morimi Saki back to the USA in order to find Takizawa Akira. The other Selecao however are actively moving to take part in the game, and a few in particular are making dangerous moves in order to eliminate Takizawa or move towards their picture of a better Japan.

I recently picked this up when I went to the London MCM expo 2011 in May, eager to see how it continued the story from the end of the TV series.

I am very happy to say that it is Brilliant! It continues the story, with many twists, and new plot points. The English Cast remains the same, and the writing is just as brilliant as ever.

What's better, the film contains a second disk that re-caps the entire TV series as one film. (Unfortunately, it is in Japanese only, with subtitles, as far as I can see, but it does a fantastic job of reminding you of the first part of the story in just slightly less than two hours.)

All together, I highly recommend this first film. Anyone who enjoyed the TV series will love this next addition to the story.

Watch out for the Second film, Paradise Lost, which I think is out on November the 1st this year!

4.0 out of 5 stars The first Eden of the East movie 24 Oct 2011

This film continues the story of `Eden of the East' and begins six months after the events of the series. After making his request to become king, Takizawa has had his memory erased before disappearing once again. Saki and her friends though don't want to give up on Takizawa and following a series of clues Saki finds herself in New York where she is once again drawn into the deadly game to change Japan.

`The King of Eden' is the first film of the `Eden of the East' series and it does a very good job of continuing the very entertaining series. The animation of the film is of the same style as that of the series and while I am not a great fan of this it does suit the series well. The English voice acting is very good, as it was in the original series and although the prequel movie hasn't been dubbed but will still be useful for those who haven't seen the series.

The only real problem that I have with this volume is that it is far too short and the cliffhanger that the film ends on is somewhat annoying but despite this I still feel that it is well worth a solid four stars.

Eden of the East is certainly one of a kind... and it is it's unique plot and execution that intrigues me most about it
This movie is a DIRECT SEQUEL to the series and continues its great mystery filled plot
If you watched the series and loved it, you MUST get this one as well !!

4.0 out of 5 stars Eden of the East - Movie 1 - King of Eden 9 Jan 2013
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really did wish for a sequel to Eden of the East serie. I really like the story. And the graphic and colours are simply beautiful. The only thing I do not like, is that the english subtitles do not correspond exactly to the words pronounced in the english dub version. So, to see it in english with english subtitles, is very disturbing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eden of the East King of Eden 6 Sep 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
First of all before watching this movie I strongly recommend you watch the TV series. This movie directly follow on from where the TV series left off.

If you watched the TV series and liked it then I have not doubt that you'll like this movie too.

The art is actually a bit of a bug bear to me on Eden of the East as a whole. The backdrops are really well animated as are the characters with one exception, they have no nose. It's a minor irritation but one that I've never got used too. Ignoring that though the Blu-Ray release looks stunning.

The story and plot in this movie is really good though and easily makes up for the lack of noses on the characters.

This release also features various trailers and movie spots as extras. It's always good to see extras.

Overall if you have watched and enjoyed the TV series then this is for you.

Eden of the East Movie 1 is set shortly after the series, Akira has vanished, Saki and the group are left wondering what has happened to him, and are trying to locate him/uncover the mysterys behind the Selecao game.

This is a movie about Sakis journey to find Akira, she ends up getting into random problems caused by the Selecao before her re union with Akira.

Basically this is more the other Selecao trying to get one over on Akira than anything through the whole movie which sets up the events/drama that unfolds.

Although the animation has improved, there is nothing really new besides perhaps the revelation about how far Juiz can effect the world and the set up for the final movie.

I thought the movie was brutally average more than anything.

Contains English/Japanese audio. Both are good.
As said, this would of been better added onto the end of the main Eden of the East series, it made no sense really to end it after 11 episodes.
