THE SEQUEL TO EDEN RISING!

"Seven years ago the world died. I often think about who we were before the catastrophe. I was seventeen, and Lila was a year younger. In so many ways we were both behind others our age in maturity. But then I wonder about that. Were we really? Because somehow we ended up alive when so many other “survivors” of the event couldn’t make it. We learned self-preservation in a hurry. We saw some of the worst of humanity and some of the best. Sadly, I think the worst overshadowed the best. But maybe that was what we needed to experience in order to gain the skills and the strength to keep going. Our story of overcoming adversity became a rallying cry for some. 'The Legend of Ben and Lila' was a source of hope for so many. We became folk heroes up and down the east coast. And then we disappeared, finding a quiet home in the Great Smoky Mountains. We never wanted the folk hero label. It was thrust upon us by others—the scared, the needy, and those without hope. In the months following the great catastrophe, we developed the skills to live off the land, to defend ourselves, and to defend others when necessary. Often it was skill, and sometimes we were just lucky.
But our luck couldn’t hold out forever…."

When a forest fire destroys their beloved forest sanctuary, Ben and Lila, along with their six-year-old daughter Katie and their dog Ralph, head west through the earthquake-ravaged landscape, toward a rumored thriving community in Yellowstone National Park. Along the way, they encounter the changes that have overtaken the world—both to the land and to the remaining survivors of the “event”—changes that are a constant source of danger.

But another rumor persists as well, that of a “great evil” in the Midwest—an evil they will have to deal with if they have any hope of making it safely to Yellowstone—to a community they are not even sure really exists.

Taking place six years after the events of Eden Rising, Eden Lost follows Ben and Lila on a new journey of discovery, one that presents them with surprises and obstacles that will change their life forever. Six years after finding their peace, Ben and Lila have to re-enter the world. Has it gotten better or become far worse?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 25 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed reading this story, after reading the first book, I was hooked. Following Ben and Lila,s story was addictive. I found the books well written and addictive. The only trouble was, I couldn't put my Kindle down. I would like a good follow on, what happens to them and Katie, how did they live? How did the community at Yellowstone move forward?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read 23 Jun 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This follows Ben and Lila, six years after the end of book 1. A forest fire makes them set out across a radically changed America once again, with their daughter and dog. As usual, they meet the good, the bad and the ugly, with lots of adventures and surprises.
Although there is violence, and bad things happen, unlike some authors, Andrew doesn't wallow in it.
I know he probably thinks he's taken Ben and Lila as far as he can, but I would love a further book about building the community in Yellowstone.

5.0 out of 5 stars ~~Ben, Lila and Katie on the move~~ 27 April 2014

Our heroes from the first book are forced into leaving Eden due to a natural disaster. This time they have their daughter, Katie (6) to protect. Ralph, their dog, is also along for the trek! The family has been "sequestered" in Eden for a number of years. Little Katie has never encountered another person as her entire life has been spent in the woods. And, she is an expert in the knowledge of animals and shooting her little crossbow.

The trek is arduous and not without calamity. Ben's fall into the crevasse nearly stopped my heart! The maturity of Ben and Lila since book 1 is shown. Poor Lila has had more than her share of injuries during their time at Eden. She has learned to cope with them over a period of time...

Originally, they wanted to go to the Gulf Coast but finally decided on trying for a group in Yellowstone. Of course, information that is passed on to them is always 3rd or 4th hand, so it is not reliable. The one thing they keep hearing about, however, is the Evil! Wait until you read about their group and the intentions they have for mankind.

I thought it was an excellent book and I love the characters. There is joy, sorrow, reunions and a new beginning for all.

Most highly recommended. I was also delighted to read a book and not have to think about the errors that are normally found - so a big thank you to the author... Well done!

Ben, Lila, and Katie are my new hero's. The storyline is great, and the character development is outstanding. This is just a very good enjoyable read. I really enjoyed the book. The ending is not what I expected but was really good. So ... Enjoy, learn and save some food.. I would like to see another book in this series, maybe 10 or 20 years from this story. It would neat to see how Katie turned out. Think about it, please.

this was a good book to read, the characters are different, two young folks in the wilderness learning how to survive, their legend grows with each page, their walk through the country that has fallen apart keeps you interesting in reading more, the two book series is worth the money...........ric harrison

This is a great followup to Eden Rising. The characters in this book are well rounded and believable to the extreme. I totally enjoyed this book and seriously had a hard time putting it down. As this is called the Eden Rising Trilogy I hope to see a Book 3 in the future!
