This brilliant Alligator Onion Chopper dices onions and other fruit and vegetables within seconds. Simply peel the outer skin off of the onion, cut it in half, and place face down on the chopper. This makes chopping veg much easier than with a knife, although you often need a lot of force to get through things like pepper skins. Try to get the version with the pot on top.
Our first one of these broke after a year or two of regular use, probably due to the force required on some vegetables. Its best to use one hand on each end to take the strain off the base, and don't try to chop too much at once.

This is a superb item for chopping onions (also softer vegetables and fruit) into very small squares, with everything being collected in the attached clear box below the cutting grid. The cutting grid is very sharp, so be cautious when you clean it. It cleans very easily, and I generally put it in the dishwasher after use. I don't think there's anything I would change about this item. A certain amount of force is needed to press the onion through the cutting grid, but I soon learned how to position the onion half to get the optimum cut without expending too much energy.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this item to anyone who might generally find chopping onions a chore. It's a good price too!
