5.0 out of 5 stars A part of life. 9 Dec 2002
Format:VHS Tape
You know you've come across something good when elements of it start to become part of your everyday speech and actions. My circle of friends all love Eddie Izzard and it's easy to see. Instead of trying to get someone's attention, yelling "You! Cake or death?!!" works just as well. If we want to protest at an accusation we don't say "i didn't do it!", we say "I was dead at the time! I was on the moon!". The list goes on. Cats aren't purring, they are drilling!
Eddie Izzard's rambling style and unashmed transvestite-ism ("just call me TV") puts people off for some reason. To those people i say this. You know how elated you feel when you laugh with such abandon that your face hurts, tears are streaming down your face and you know you have to breathe at some point but can't fit it in just yet as something even funnier has been said? Watch Eddie Izzard for such elation.
"You, blue pants, will infiltrate white wash...."
I could just regergatate all his sketches but i don't have enough days free. This man is damn funny. As well as creating absurd scenarios ("Why didn't Star Trek phasers have a 'Limp' setting?") he also simplifys issues (religion, transvestite-ism, consumerism) into jokes that just might make you think a bit....after you've finished wetting yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Izzards (and therefore the worlds) funniest 9 Nov 2004
This is the funniest Eddie Izzard performance out there. Consistently funny throughout and mind-alteringly surreal (cats drilling for gold, dogs unhappy with their wash) thi is stand-up comedy as it should be.
If you want or need a really good laugh, then you can't do better than this. The best introduction to Eddie's own brand of bonkers comedy

5.0 out of 5 stars "He's a bit confidant for a man in a dress!!!" 8 Jan 2005
By A Customer
I bought this on the recommendation of the other fabulous reviewers here and was not disappointed at all. Eddie Izzard is not only hilarious, but he has a hilarity unique to himself. I wish I had been in the audience during this fantastic performance of Unrepeatable! He just has a way of plugging into an audience and delivering these fantastic sets. I couldn't stop myself laughing: the bit about Prince Charles' security guards particularly left me devastated. If you like Eddie, you'll love this. If you don't like Eddie... umm... get it anyway! With a DVD this good, you might be surprised!

5.0 out of 5 stars OOOHHH YYEAAAHHH!! 9 Nov 2003
Format:VHS Tape
i have seen all Eddie's stand up work, watched all the videos and i have to say, i started off with this one, and it was by far the best.
if you have to get one of eddie's performances, start with this one. it is well worth it on every level.
when i first watched it, it was as an unknown to the power that is eddie. i have never laughed so much in my life, and that is no exaggeration. normally i sit down, watch a comedy that i think is funny, but i never actually crack a smile. here i was reaching for the tissues to stop my eyes watering.
if you are looking for a stomache muscle exercise... THIS IS IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars The first and one of the best 9 Sep 2006
This was recorded in March 1994, and its the earliest Eddie Izzard stand-up concert you can buy. However, Eddie is already a fully formed comic genius, in this his first released stage show.

Hilarious, frequently surreal (but still funny) this is a show to watch to cheer yourself up:

The Cat is behind the Sofa drilling. Owner comes round to look, Cat stops drilling. Owner - "Were you drilling Cat?" Cat - "Why would I be drilling I'm a Cat - no thats purring you're thinking of" Owner walks away, Cat puts goggles back on and carries on drilling.

The original Star Trek series is given a good workout by Izzard, ending the show with a series of unusal settings for phasers, a few of which are: 'Bit of a cough', 'Ice Cream Van arrives', and finally 'left the gas on'.

Perhaps not quite as good as Dress To Kill or Glorious, but its close and if you like those I guarantee you will like this.

this is the first eddie izzard video i saw, i think and it really does set the standard. his usual brand of surrealism mixed with his massive intelligence really makes this show a must see. this has converted a few of my non izzard liking friends. nuff said.
