Nickodemus manages to travel around the world with his debut, ENDANGERED SPECIES, and we, the listeners, reap the benefits. We start off in Cuba with the warmth strum and horns of "Mi Swing Es Tropical" before popping over to New York for the funk-jazz of "Funky In The Middle." This album is meant to make you move, and move you will, whether you like it or not. We jump over to the Middle East with "Crazy Stranger," with the woodwinds and percussion creating a sirocco of sound, and "Cleopatra In New York" reinforces this vocally. "Peace Pipe" heads south, into Africa, and the steel pan that starts off "The Spirits Within" cements this. Not only does Nickodemus jump around sonically, but also percussively, going from straight-up house kicks to upbeat hip-hop and even some dub with "Rhythm Love." The dub merges with some Israel instrumentation in "The Global Village." Much cheaper than plane fare to all those continents!
