Dyslexia 29 Sep 2010
I am a specialist teacher of pupils with dyslexia in a large high school. Many of my pupils find it easier to type than to write, especially as there is spellchecker on the PCs. I bought a copy of this disk for my one-to-one pupils to practise in their lessons. It was so successful that the school ordered a site licence and now the typing programme can be accessed by every pupil in the school.

It is an excellent programme. There are no annoying voices. It is not condescending like many other popular typing programmes for children. It uses the same fingering and order of keys that I learnt when I got my typing qualifications many years ago, before I became a teacher. The pupils enjoy the drills, the games, and the fact that they can progress through the levels and see that they getting better.

I would recommend this programme to anyone who is considering buying touch typing software for use in schools.

Great for kids 12 Sep 2010
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I learnt to "type" just by practise - well I say learnt - I only use about 3 fingers and oh how I wish I had learnt properly and wouldn't be in the bad habits I am now!

I ordered this for someone who has very little confidence with their typing ability - but I did try it out myself too! They are unlikely to become a super-speedy touch-typist from using this, BUT they have definitely improved and know where the keys are. I do think it has the potential to help someone be3come a better typist before bad habits set in.

Personally I loved the games - for example you have to use your typing skills to "save" your castle. Not difficult - but it does make you type quicker!!
On the more serious side there are actual practise sessions, with an assessment test at the end.

I'd say this is definitely going to be great for kids who I hope will be more able to learn to type the "proper" way!

top of the class 20 Dec 2010

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This a great fun way of learning typing, for ALL ages. Very easy to instal( just a few mins, and easy enough for anyone ) and use .
Although the graphics are very simple, it certainly teaches you keyboard skills. You complete different games, which draws on your competitive side, learning basic tying skils as you go along.
These games are short enough to reinforce the keyboard and the letters on it. Using consistancey and graphics you soon start to learn how to use the keyboard better.
Im ok using the keyboard, so I gave it to my partner to use as he is just starting to learn the computer and does one finger typing. He really enjoed it and it as really improved his confidence and keyboard abilites. It looked so fun I tried to and it has also improved my typing and I make less mistakes. I have difficult reading, but as this was mostly graphice I managed to pick things up fine.
It does not have the most stunning graphice, or wow factor- but its fun. I think this would be especailly good for people who have difficult reading or hate learning things in a traditional way. Highily recommended and I would certainily recommend to kids and adults alike.
