Having visited Ecuador on numerous occasions, I was very interested to see what Lonely Planet had to offer. Unfortunately, all in all I've found this guidebook to be somewhat disappointing. I really missed more background information about this incredibly diverse country. Also, there are quite a few errors in this book! Especially concerning information on hotels and such (phone numbers, prices, that kind of thing). Luckily, I also own the Rough Guide to Ecuador, which I believe is much more informative and definitely more accurate. Therefore I would recommend Rough Guide over this Lonely Planet edition!

We enjoyed being able to find out more about where we were travelling around before we got there and this book gave us all the background information - and more - that we needed. Very useful indeed.
