First Sentence
With a suitcase full of questions about classical shamanism and the feasibility of shamanic techniques in our modern urban society, I set off in the summer of 1992 to visit Felicitas Goodman at her educational institute in Cuyamungue, New Mexico. Read the first page

Not impressed 17 Feb 2012
By J. Adkins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I bought this book thinking that I would learn body postures that like mudras, would be valuable for meditation. As someone who does sculpt, I do not believe that the author's hypothesis of the clay sculptures shown in this book are a valid way to learn that. It sounded great in print until I got the book and saw the sculptures used. Some are clearly, to my minds eye, in the positions they are in to give the item balance so it wouldn't fall over. With that in mind, make your own decision. It made mine although I would have liked to believe differently.

Ecstatic Postures 28 May 2009

As a person with a Maya archaeological backround, using the maya statues and pictures out of context was annoying. The writing was so easy that I wondered who the targeted audience was.
Other than that, it's an interesting book, many postures to try. So far, I haven't had any luck with the postures that my age and arthritis will allow, but I haven't stopped trying.
