I'd never heard of soap nuts before and was very sceptical but, because of the many good reviews and trying to cut down on chemicals generally, thought I would give them a try. I have done 2 washes so far and used 7 nuts - the first was a fairly challenging whites wash which I was amazed to find came up beautifully white, clean, soft and fresh smelling. They just seem to smell of fresh air rather than anything in particular. I was also surprised that some fairly rough cotton pillowcases ironed really smoothly without fabric conditioner. If I had just used the usual washing capsules without conditioner, they would have been impossible to iron. I used the same nuts for the second wash and, again, everything came up very clean.

I have tried putting lavender oil in the fabric conditioner dispenser but this hasn't worked so far. I will need to experiment but really anything extra isn't necessary at all. Will also need to experiment with how many washes you get from the same nuts. This is such a fantastic, environmentally/body friendly way of doing washing, I'm surprised that they are not used more.

I was not sure these would work. I live in a hard water area so use between 4-6 nuts and reuse them for about 4 washes. First used them on clothes that can't be tumble dried and they came out soft. Very happy. Then used the nuts on the dogs bedding. I have one duvet cover that is stained with mud and no matter how much I wash it and even at a high temperature it doesn't come clean. After one wash with the nuts I could see a difference and that was at a low temperature. The second wash at a higher temperature and most of the stains had disappeared. Result.....
I think I have also found a use for the used nuts. After washing my kitchen marble floor the other day it was still looking dirty in places (3 dogs and wet weather doesn't mix). So I placed some spent nuts in a bowl and poured boiling water on and left them for 1/2 hour. Then I mixed this with warm water and cleaned the marble tiles. Result again. So I'm saving money on floor cleaner too. 😄

These are really good. Washing is clean and fresh and you feel like you are helping the environment. I bought these as my hubby has psoriasis and I like to use fragrance and additive free whenever possible.

Such good value for money and for anyone with a skin allergy this is the product to get. Clothes come out of the washing machine just as clean as when using laundry powder or liquid and at a fraction of the cost. I would certainly recommend these soap nuts.

I have only purchased Soap Nuts once before and now that Ecozone are doing them I thought I'd give them a try again. These ones appear to be much better quality and do foam up in the wash. The 1Kg bag is certainly going to last me a long time. This is the most natural that washing can get!

I've been using these soap nuts to wash my family's clothes now for almost 3 months. I first saw them on another website about a year ago but they were always out of stock then I found them on amazon and thought I would buy them and give them a try as I wanted something that wasn't full of chemicals and was kinder to mine and my family's skin as some of us have eczema including my baby and found that even fairy made her skin flare up as it still has nasty chemicals and perfumes in it and also having asthma I find chemicals make that worse so anyway I wasn't sure whether these would actually clean my clothes so I first used them to clean a load of cushion covers and I couldn't believe it when I took them out they have never been so clean! I tried them on my clothes and I found them to also come out brilliantly clean. Some things with bad stains on don't come out but no other chemical product got them out either, I didn't like not having a nice smell to my clothes so I put in a small amount of distiller white vinegar and about 4-5 drops of essential oils in just to give it a nice smell and also soften the clothes up even more. I put 10 soap nuts into a bag and use them for 4 washes because we are a family of 8 and I have a 12 kg washing machine I find 10 works best for me plus I like to have and see a few bubbles in there. So I use them 4 times but for the last 2 times I top it up with half the mixture of the old soap nuts so I know there is enough saponin in there to wash my clothes. How I do that is when I've finished with the soap nuts I take them out of the bag and put them in a small pot or tub and pour boiling water onto them probably about a cupful then leave them for a few hours and all the saponin that's left in them will come out and you have a top up.Read more ›

These days I don't write many reviews as I repeat my orders. I ordered these last week and have used them at 3-4 a time with a teaspoon of bi-carb of soda. The biggest surprise was, old grease marks GONE! at 1st wash. The laundry is totally deodorised, even animal bedding.
I do suggest rinsing your hands after handling as some residue can remain on the hands and transfer to the next thing you handle giving a bitter flavour.
I love them and will definitely be reordering when they eventually run low
