Product Description

Product Description

Daylight is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, improving mood, night time sleep and energy levels. Daylight helps restore the body's natural rhythms and brings nourishment to the body, mind and soul. In a market dominated by yellow bulbs, the Biobulb brings back daylight into the home, producing light of exceptional clarity.

The Biobulb 25W Screw cap (E27) produces consistent, flicker-free light, and has been tested to last for up to 10,000 hours.

Daylight and Colour Temperature
Degrees Kelvin is the measure of colour temperature. The natural colour temperature of daylight is around 6500K. As a comparison, conventional energy saving bulbs emit light at around 2500-3000K. This yellow light can distort colours and can cause tired eyes and eye strain.

The Biobulb has been tested to produce around 6400K, more than twice the average output of standard Energy Saving Bulbs. This is a clear white light which, like daylight, is easy on the eyes and prevents unnecessary eye strain, improving visibility and reading comfort.

The excellent colour matching of the Biobulb make it ideal for use for designing, craft work, sewing or any other activity requiring good quality light.

Energy-Saving
Not only does the Biobulb produce light of exceptional clarity, it is also a Compact Fluorescent Energy Saving bulb. Using only 25W of electricity, the Biobulb produces a bright light equivalent to that of a 100W incandescent bulb.

By using 75% less energy than a conventional bulb, you’ll be saving electricity and money, not to mention improving your carbon footprint. An ‘A’ rated energy efficient product, the Biobulb has been tested to last up to 10,000 hours.

Warning
Ecozone Biobulbs are not suitable for use in dimmer circuits

This bulb gives a great daylight balanced light that makes the indoors look much more like the outdoors! At first, this takes a bit of getting used to if you have previously used normal energy-saving bulbs. But after a while it becomes very natural and is great for reading.

However, I must comment on the poor lifespan of the bulb. Mine was purchased in October 2010 and stopped working in July 2011. Compared to normal energy saving bulbs that usually run for 5+ years - and cost a small fraction of a Biobulb to buy - this is very disappointing. A colleague at work also had a Biobulb fail within a year. Read the reviews of the bayonet fit Biobulb and several people complain of getting less than a year's use from them too.

I'm now deliberating on whether to buy a replacement. I love the quality of light, but I just expect it to last much, much longer. So much for 10000 hours lifespan!

Great product! 22 Dec 2008
I have bought four of these bulbs in total sofar. The light is tremendously natural and when comparing you can easily see the orange hue that normal incandescent bulbs give off. They do take a little while to reach their full brightness but that is only a minor issue.
Would definately recommend although they are not particularly cheap.

An excellent bulb for craft work and reading. These bulbs are not cheap but they make a great difference when carrying out close-up work.

Very Good-So Far
Really good. Lights up quickly and gives a nice light. Different brands I have tried have only lasted a few days, so will update this if it blows within the year. So far so good!!

Worth it
Bought this bulb a month ago, delivered on time. Light from the bulb is white in colour and it tends more to blue, doesn't look like 6400K to me. However, brightness is fantastic.

Supplements weak daylight
The bulb works well during the cloudy winter months when daylight is weak. When it's pitch black out, the light looks artificial. Read more

Great light, terrible lifetime
I strongly prefer full spectrum bulbs to "cosy" "warm" bulbs. They may appear cold at first but it is far easier to read by them , my energy levels crash less in winter and I soon... Read more

Fit for purpose
I wanted a daylight bulb as warm white is not good for working/reading. I would say its not perfect daylight bulb as it has a slight bluish hue to its light output. Read more
