5.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Bed-side book! 7 Aug 2010
Format:Hardcover
This is a very unusual bedside book. To gain useful and sometimes useless information, John Andrews Book of Isms is witty and a very good way to increase
knowledge effortlessly. It is also a very good gift to send to friends who need to improve their wordpower.

This is a gem of a book, a pocket sized treasure trove of fascinating information-the meaning and origin of each "-ism" explained with great clarity, and with reference to its aesthetic, political or philosophical history.
