Product Description

Review

The new edition clearly combines the twin virtues of accumulated learning-by-doing with up-to-dateness. The book is in serious colour, with many diagrams and figures. It backs up the basic expositional highway with interesting stop-offs and scenic diversions.

A lot of work has gone into this book and it shows. Its coverage is comprehensive; almost any first year course could be accommodated using this text.

(Professor Huw Dixon, Professor of Economics at University of York)

A brilliant book that covers all aspects of economics in a easy to understand, logical way. The book uses diagrams and chapter reviews effectively to drive home the main points and has everday examples to illustrate dificult concepts. A must for any finance/economic students out there - whether they have studied the subject before or not

In short, Economics can get extremely confusing and complicated, and it is important to develop a strong understanding of the basic principles and build on that. Having used several books during my studies I found that Parkin, Powell & Matthews were able to break the harder subjects down and introduce them in a logical manner making it easier to absorb the information. This book will give you a solid understanding of the basic principles and help you build on them. If you're studying economics this text should definitely be on your shelf.

Illustrates and describes Economics a very comprehensive and clear manner. Presents valuable examples and interviews with key economists, which helpunderstand not only the general value of economics in our lives but alsothe more detailed technical aspects of it. It also describes in anaccessible language unintuitive concepts like risk neutrality.

The reviews listed below seem to refer to "Economics". The book listed by Amazon is "Macroeconomics". They are different books. "Economics" is a good standard "principles" book; good for serious A-level students and first year university. "Macroeconomics" is at the next level. It is several years since I read it. I think it was good.
