Product Description

Product Description

Claiming that our health care systems are fragmented primarily because people are insufficiently involved, this text describes how direct interactions of people with one another and their environment can form a health-promoting, socially and environmentally just society. It sets out a blueprint for developing local organizations which pursue health rather than wealth, and shows how we can turn our primary care structures into units of local governance for health.

From the Author

There is a tension threading throughout the text. Much of what is said is critical of the social and organisational systems prevalent in the rich Western world. Yet to change things we have to work within this system. So whilst I offer a radical vision and perspective, I follow the sensible precedents of the Natural Step organisation developed in Scandinavia by Karl-Henrik Robèrt. Change has to be attainable, made with the support of local people, and evolutionary. It will take many years of hard work to achieve what all of us wish, a healthy humanity living in harmonious balance with each other and with nature. But we can make a start today.
