I was looking for a change of eco laundry liquid from ecover, which makes me itch with the newer fragrance, but also the clothes are not that soft, often being a bit cardboard-like and the product is hard to get out of clothes in the rinse cycles, especially on eco wash. I don't use conditioner because of the longer time to dry plus, in general - and i haven't tried ecoleaf conditioner, it clogs machines up and eventually makes them smell. I use soap nuts in every wash, with or without laundry detergent, to bactericide the clothes and the machine, which works for me and many others' i know, plus they do add to softness. Decided to try ecoleaf detergent and also bought the stain remover to add in for whites. I've used the detergent alone for darks (@40) and they have not only come out very clean but also very soft and smell gently gorgeous and clean. Then tried the detergent and stain remover for whites and towels (@60 and came up lovely) with the same result. No cardboard and masking perfumes. The detergent doesn't bubble in the machine, so don't expect that if you live in a hard water area. And don't put more in thinking it can't be enough, because you will see the mounds of bubbles in the spin and will have to rinse many times, if you do. But the dirt in the rinse is far more than i've seen with other detergents, yet not to remove colour. I tried the smaller bottle locally, but when i've used it i'll be buying the large amount here because it is a wonderful cleaner and softer of clothes. I won't use anything thats been animal tested and only want a completely eco-friendly detergent. Hope this long explanation helps you to decide.
