Dud duck. 11 Aug 2014
By Nat X - Published on Amazon.com
Received this as a gift for my daughter's first birthday. I love the idea of saving batteries from the landfill. But I don't understand this toy at all. First of all, the package notes that it is not intended for children under three because of small parts. (Who is it meant for then?) Second of all, (we cranked it plenty before using it), you have to actually crank WHILE playing with it. The songs are barely audible unless you're cranking it. Very annoying. The buttons don't do anything until you crank it some more. Save yourself some money and just get a wooden duck pull toy. Another reviewer noted that they had to replace the battery to get it to work. Did they put used-up batteries in all of them? We have toys that are at least 7-years-old in our house with batteries that are working fine. On the plus side, our four-year-old likes turning the crank...so there's that.

Item arrived and did not work at all despite several minutes of cranking. Opened it up and replaced the Lithium rechargeable coin battery and then it worked... I assume the battery was just bad (hoping it's not the dynamo in the toy designed to recharge it or I'm going to be changing out these batteries pretty often...) but since the battery itself typically costs around half what they were charging for the toy, the whole thing is pretty annoying. Won't bother returning it; but also don't plan to purchase from them again.

Gave as a gift for a first birthday. Broken after the 1 st use -- obviously not at all durable - but intended for a 1 year old - what the heck?
