I took my time reading all the reviews on many de-humidifiers and chose this one over the others. Why? Because of what this thing can do and how it looked. I just kept my fingers crossed when it arrived that it was quiet when and effective at removing moisture from the air. I was not disappointed.

Straight away I turned it on and in less than 24hrs it had removed 3 litres of water from my studio flat! I had no idea that was possible! The next 24 hrs prodcued another 3 litres. Emptying the water I found easy and it has a nice little handle on the top. It does seem to get quite full so care does need to be taken when initially sliding it out but I found it no problem at all.

After day 3 the humidity sensor then showed it was 50-60% and the machine stopped dehumidifing (as I had it on medium setting). However the fan (the noisiest bit) still keeps going so still makes roughly the same level of noise. The compressor and other parts are very quiet and its only really the fan that you can hear.

It is fair to say the fan does make noise, but its a very steady noise. I have it on all night in the same room as I sleep and its very easy to forget its there. It just does its job. The air is noticably cleaner and I'm sure even in the summer this will be usefull as my wife suffers badly from hayfever. Its also nice to have peace of mind that our new born baby is breathing in clean filtered air and this little machine does it all, and bye bye condensation and mould!

Had it for a week now, good reliable and nothing to say negatively about this machine. It's a dehumidifier its expected to get some noise from a fan, but I would not change it for the world and if I was to need another dehumidfier I would look for another one of these any day.

I've owned a few dehumidifiers so speaking from experience, I would say this machine is one of the most powerful you can currently buy for extracting water from the air in a home environment - and it works extremely well. The water tank is large and I was amazed that in just a period of 24hrs it was over half full when placed in a medium sized room - albeit one with significant damp/condensation issues. Having used it about 3 weeks now in that room it has become comfortable and livable.

The machine spurts out slightly warm air so a room also becomes warm. I've used the air purifying function and that sends cooler air out - and I can see that helping in the summer as well as it reducing humidity.

I don't think it's noisy compared to others I've owned I could easily sleep with it on. Another big plus point for me is that there is no smell coming from the unit. A lot of dehumidifiers produce one smell or other due to the chemicals used, but I was pleasantly surprised that this has nothing noticeable coming from it and I can have it on for hours without thinking about it.

There is one design flaw in my opinion, which is the reason for 4 stars - the water tank is large but has no lid which all other dehumidifiers I've owned have had. If you let the tank fill up there is a danger the water could spill when removing and carrying to empty. I don't know why Ecoair designed it this way, but for me it is an issue as I empty the tank often and have to be extra careful. On a related issue the machine I received had it's water tank cracked - although still usable. The seller contacted Ecoair on my behalf and they sent a new one in the post, so pleased with customer service in dealing with this.

Overall an excellent machine and a recommended buy if you can spend a bit more.

I have been using the EcoAir DC202 for about 1 week now and so far am really impressed with it. Having used a few different types of dehumidifier I have been looking for one that ticked all the boxes. I've used different desiccant models like the Meaco DD8l and the Ruby Dry DH600 as well as some compressor models like the Dimplex DXDH10N and De'Longhi DEM10. Both types have their respective advantages and disadvantages.

The desiccant models seem to absorb more water on average. They operate continuously at lower temperatures with no compressor to defrost and therefore can be more efficient at what they do. They are light and portable and the ones I used were quiet enough to run in the same room without significant distraction day or night. They also produce warm air and act as a heater to some extent. The biggest disadvantage I perceived was with the quality of air produced. The FAQs for these type of dehumidifiers tend to mention that the odour from the machine is a result of existing odours from the environment - hair sprays etc. - being absorbed by the desiccant material, heated up and then released back into the air and will go away in time.

Whether or not that is the complete explanation I found the odour produced by the desiccant models I used did diminish but did not disappear whereas running a compressor model in the same location under similar conditions not only didn't have this drawback but in the case of the EcoAir DC292 and Dimplex DXDH10N produced noticeably fresher air than before the unit was switched on. Some people may not notice this or be less concerned by it but for others a compressor model might be worth considering from that perspective if you are going to be using it in the house as opposed to in a garage or if you suffer from allergies etc.
