Product Description

Everyone is interested in being more self-sufficient these days, and why should kids miss out on the fun? This timely book cleverly marries the themes of play and creativity with eco-awareness, and the results are spectacular. From building wind turbines, creating light and making fire to growing vegetables, collecting water and cooking outdoors, this book will really encourage kids to switch off their TVs and computers and get outdoors. The easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions and photo-graphs mean that no venture is too difficult for children to follow with adult supervision, and with such a wide-range of projects there's something here that will appeal to every child and adult alike.

Just Awful 20 Feb 2010
Format:Hardcover
This book was awful.

Not one of the projects in this book could my son complete without help and most of the materials they say you can just find at scrap yards or free or pennies are not available and to buy them new would cost a small fortune.
It is based very much around those living in Australia or in hot climates which I do not.
A lot of projects I could not do myself nevermind expect my children to do.

They have a page or two on making your own butter by putting it in a bottle and shaking it until it turns into butter. I have been making my own butter for many years and I can tell you that what is in that bottle is not butter.
I wouldn't even re-sell this book, it has gone in the bin.

Not Just For Kids 9 July 2009
By J. Hopkins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are some really neat things in this book to raise the next green generation and maybe to shoot the Nintendo. But do not think that this is just for the kids. It will get adults thinking too and maybe launch us on some projects that can be scaled up. For the price it is a good and fun read. I am 45 and got something out of it.
