Has anyone used low watt bulbs in this? Like the 18W philips genie - U shape OR the 20W Philips softone eco bulb?

N. Atkinson says:
I believe that eco-bulbs would not work for this device. They are gas discharge bulbs, and therefore only "on" or "off" with no possibility of fading in slowly. This must be why Philips have chosen to use tungsten filament bulbs, altho' they are nowadays considered "naughty"!
