5.0 out of 5 stars I use this with strava 4 Dec 2012

I have HTC desire HD phone and strava application alone struggle to log onto satellites. I start this first to do the logging and then start strava. That seem to have done the trick

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Useful. Does what it says 22 Mar 2011
By John H. Raines Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Ive been using this app for several months. Basically this provides a simple useful readout of the GPS radio. The compass simulation makes the app very intuitive. For the casual user, get a simple geographic orientation, speed if moving, altitude, Latitude and Longitude. For others, get more technical information such as satellites being used, signal strength and so on.

Since it only needs the GPS it will be useful anywhere. The author has continually updated and improved. And free (with ads) although I have contributed for this nice product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just works 27 Oct 2011

Was looking for a quick and dirty way just to get my GPS coordinates on my new Android Thrive. I didn't need maps or anything, just a way to get my coordinates. This app worked the first try. It also give a compass-type reading that shows which direction you are oriented in. The first app I downloaded was just a compass application, and after it GPS synced, I could tell it was way off and not working correctly when I moved the phone. It kept saying either an abnormal magnetic field had been detected or it needed to be calibrated . However, this app oriented correctly the second it came on. Very impressive and does what it says it does.

3.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't do much on Droid3 7 Sep 2011

The satellite location and altitude features don't work on Droid3, which doesn't leave much functionality. Everything works great on Xoom, however. Developer says the Droid3 problems are because the Motorola API isn't complete.

4.0 out of 5 stars Saved me 16 Oct 2012
By M. D. - Published on Amazon.com

We had a couple maps, and a general idea of where we were going, but when my GPS died, we were lost. I was hunting with my 14 yr old, and in a remote area with little to no cel service, and virtually no data coverage. I finally found an area with data and immediately searched for a GPS utility. This looked good, so I grabbed it, and boy am I glad I did. We used this at least a couple times a day to locate where we were on the map, and to make sure we were going where we thought we were. Then, when we broke down on the last day, we used it to provide a location to AAA. If you are looking for a way to get GPS info without accessing google maps, this is the ticket.

The app is pretty useful and gps data is accurate and refreshes quickly. Lots of potential here to add a ton of useful features.
