I first heard about this case on TV, watching A Haunting (Dark Forest). I was so intrigued with this episode, I decided to google Hinsdale, NY - haunted house and that is how I found out about this book. I ordered the book, that minute!
After reading quite a bit on google and also checking out youtube, I could hardly wait to get this book. And when it arrived, it was not a let down. This book was one that was almost impossible to put down, yet I did not want to finish it, because it was that good! I believe every single word Ms. Miller writes. I believe nothing was embellished.
While reading this book, I was so enamored that I was actually playing everything out in my minds eye that this family was going through, and boy did they go through some stuff!
I was sorry to hear about Laura's death. You feel like you really get to know the family in this book, since they are obviously mentioned by name. Everyone seemed so likable.
I would highly recommend this book. I'd also like to say that there is no way in hell I would have ever stayed past the first few events, let alone the seemingly hundreds of events this family was subjected to! I am not that strong! LOL
In a couple of places in the book, Ms. Miller speaks about being paralyzed (unable to move) by some force. This hit home with me; as many years ago, I had a very similar situation, where I was "emotionally" paralyzed and unable to physically move. My mind wanted to move but my body was unable and the force that I felt was very real and very dark. I've only experienced that once and I hope never to go through that again. Her experience really resonated with me.
Thank you, Ms. Miller for writing this, putting your heart and soul into it, and telling such an amazing story. This has to be, without a doubt, the BEST true haunting book I have ever read, or will ever read.
