Book Description

“Echoes of a Haunting Revisited” is a re-issue and adds some material not in the original book. It tells the story of a family under siege. From the time the Dandy family moved to their "home in the country" in 1970 until they fled it in 1974, they were plagued but unexplainable and terrifying events. When they tell you ghosts can't harm you, take it with a grain of salt. Perhaps they can't affect you directly but they can sure cause incidents that can kill. The book is told in semi-diary form to keep it in (hopefully) order. If you don't believe in the paranormal, you'd better not read this book. If you want to learn something, by all means read it and learn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Scary! 7 April 2010
By Shelly L Pierson - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
With non-fiction writings of paranormal activity one of my favorite genre's, I have read quite a few books throughout the years. Nothing seems to scare me, or make me uneasy in my own home, so you can imagine my surprise when a few chapters into the book, I found myself looking around my dark room- and turning on a few lights!! The author has a way of making you "live" through the ordeals- and was sad when the book was over. I finished it in a few nights only because I could not put it down!!! I am also pleased that the author explains the importance of having an open mind when reading her story- she gives you the option to believe it or not. When reading books of this nature, an open mind is imperative. In my opinion,if you are a fan of this genre, this book is a must read! A hidden gem!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a "can't put down" book! Absolutely astounding! FIVE plus stars! A must read!! 8 Mar. 2010

I first heard about this case on TV, watching A Haunting (Dark Forest). I was so intrigued with this episode, I decided to google Hinsdale, NY - haunted house and that is how I found out about this book. I ordered the book, that minute!

After reading quite a bit on google and also checking out youtube, I could hardly wait to get this book. And when it arrived, it was not a let down. This book was one that was almost impossible to put down, yet I did not want to finish it, because it was that good! I believe every single word Ms. Miller writes. I believe nothing was embellished.

While reading this book, I was so enamored that I was actually playing everything out in my minds eye that this family was going through, and boy did they go through some stuff!

I was sorry to hear about Laura's death. You feel like you really get to know the family in this book, since they are obviously mentioned by name. Everyone seemed so likable.

I would highly recommend this book. I'd also like to say that there is no way in hell I would have ever stayed past the first few events, let alone the seemingly hundreds of events this family was subjected to! I am not that strong! LOL

In a couple of places in the book, Ms. Miller speaks about being paralyzed (unable to move) by some force. This hit home with me; as many years ago, I had a very similar situation, where I was "emotionally" paralyzed and unable to physically move. My mind wanted to move but my body was unable and the force that I felt was very real and very dark. I've only experienced that once and I hope never to go through that again. Her experience really resonated with me.

Thank you, Ms. Miller for writing this, putting your heart and soul into it, and telling such an amazing story. This has to be, without a doubt, the BEST true haunting book I have ever read, or will ever read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A TRULY GIFTED STORYTELLER! 29 April 2011

I read Ms Miller's original "Echo's of a Haunting" after watching the episode "Dark Forest" on the Discovery Channel's "A Haunting" I have a full library on non-fiction hauntings and rated this book as being my favorite. The revision is even better. The experiences that the Dandy family survived through is incomprehensible and I am thankful that an educated woman with a natural knack for relating her story decided to share it with the world. The Hinsdale haunting will definitely go down in history as one of the most prolific hauntings of our time. Thanks Clara, and condolences on Laura's passing.

4.0 out of 5 stars The infamous Hinsdale House, aka - The Dandy House 17 Feb. 2010
By Paul J. Kenyon - Published on
Echoes of a Haunting Revisited is a revised writing of Clara's original book, Echoes of a Haunting. Her story tells of her family's ordeal with the paranormal and is well worth the read. I was with her family during this troubled time and the energies of the house were, to say the least, frightening. If you enjoy true haunted stories, you must read this book! Love ya, Clara!

5.0 out of 5 stars Frightning and Well written 12 Sept. 2009

I remember seeing the same story featured on Discovery Channel's "a Haunting". The events recounted in the show were scary enough but the episode left out the most interesting parts. The book is far more exhaustive as to what happened to this poor family.Unlike some of the other true account haunted house books out there this is actually well written.I felt the same foreboding the author felt as she recounted her experiences. It was one of the most fascinating yet disturbing ghost accounts I have read so far.
