Product Description

Product Description

An Eco-thriller from a New Zealand wildlife biologist and award-winning novelist. Ignoring a 20-year moratorium on commercial whaling, Japan sends its whaling fleet deep into the Antarctic to kill whales under the guise of 'scientific research'. Thrust into this volatile situation is Richard Major, an unlikely hero accompanying a whale research expedition. On the High Seas he must confront a terrifying adversary - a ruthless fishing industrialist who would wipe out entire species to satisfy an insatiable lust for money and power. From the windswept Southern Ocean to the opulence of corporate Japan, the battle has many fronts. Mirroring a real-life tragedy looming in our own lifetime, this is a haunting exploration of mankind's continual conflict with nature, and the heroism of those who would risk everything to defend a future threatened forever. Based on fact. Donation from every book goes to save the whales! Find out more at: www.cgeorgemuller.com

Save the Whales 19 Jun 2007
By M. Botting - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is very much a promoter of saving the whales. A good story with action, intrigue, suspense. My only complaint is awareness of the hollywood stereotype that the good guys are nice and beautiful, while the bad guys are rude and ugly - but no worse than your typical mainstream blockbuster movie! Definitely hard to put down once started. Appeal to fans of Sea Shepherd.

A breath of fresh air 21 Dec 2006
By Marine Mammal Scientist - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I thoroughly enjoyed Echoes in the Blue!!! Finally an adventure story that has pace and excitement while still having heart and purpose.

The story is told from the point of view of Richard, a pretty ordinary guy whose life is stuck in a rut and going nowhere. He is invited by his scientist brother to help out on a research project studying the great whales in the Southern Ocean.

What follows is an exciting adventure of passion, courage, and obsession as Richard and his brother fight to save the whales from the Japanese whaling fleet which threaten to rid the oceans of the whales and their songs.

The scenery is incredible and the characters are a great mix that lend balance to the many sides of the whaling issue. This is a beautifully told story, and you can see the author is passionate and well researched on the topic. It is the sort of story that can provide the reader the escapism of being swept away to a new world, while still being grounded in reality, and getting across a powerful message.

What is even better is that procedes from the book go directly to help save the whales! So just by reading it, you are doing something to help.

I really hope C.G. Muller succeeds in sharing this evocative story with the world, as it is an eye-opener and one that needs to be told.
