I have had a pair of these shoes for over 15 years but finally the sole is starting to split. I was relieved to find the exact same design is still being made as they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. Wide toe area, arch support and no pinching at the bottom of the laces. A true quality product.

I find Ecco shoes have suffered in quality since their earlier days when they came from Denmark. Having up till recently enjoyed their fit, the soft leather and flexible soles, now I find the fit narrower, the leather harder and the soles stiffer, so I was disappointed with my latest order and returned them. However, the dispatch to me was prompt and well packaged and I can't criticise this. The return was also easy and my money was refunded within a few days with no trouble.

I have had the same problem with the soles disintegrating whilst the uppers are still in good condition. I have lost 3 pairs so far for this reason. The last pair was unused but I had had the shoes for a few months before using them. After 5 minutes of use, the sole was gone. The local Echo dealer told me that when you buy a pair of Echo shoes, you have to use them straight away to avoid the sole deteriorate; something I consider somewhat ridiculous when you pay more than £ 60 for a pair of shoes. I will never purchase any more Echo shoes.

I have been wearing this style since the late 1980s for walking and have always bought another pair with great confidence.
Last summer, bought a pair in Nubuck -Clay - and Trying On confirmed they were the same size as usual and indeed, comparing soles, showed they were identical to previous pairs. These new ones were first worn going on holiday when being on my feet was expected for the duration of a boating walking holiday. By the time I had gone through the first airport, my feet were sore; by the next day, during the next stage by ferry- crossing, my heel had blistered so badly that even with blister-plasters from my day-pack immediately applied, the blister had broken. It took almost 3 months to heal and being diabetic, I dare not risk such damage to feet. Having paid £70 for this pair of shoes, I did not give up: put them by until winter brought cold feet that might have been better for breaking in new shoes. That too failed: by the evening, they were unwearable. Also, the laces were very short. An utter waste of money.
To make bad matters worse, I dug out some older pairs, only to find on wearing that the soles first cracked and then crumbled into total disintegration! This happened on two pairs of shoes that looked as good as new apart from a few creases across the uppers from normal wear.
This year, have searched for this style without success - lots of similar styles available but would I dare?!! Also, the colours are very winterish - black, navy, brick brown etc which in my opinion would look ghastly with shorts or lighter-weight clothes. (I still have a "healthy" pair of white) What is wrong with Ivory/Oyster or soft sage-green?
All in all, I want you to know that it is extremely doubtful I would ever risk buying another pair of Ecco shoes and consider the product to have become very shoddily made.
NO STAR RATING. NOT "fit for purpose"

These were the worst Ecco shoes I have ever purchased. I have several pairs of these shoes in black, cream and different styles but never had any as uncomfortable as these. I have worn them, had them stretched and pulled and they still pinch, press on tender parts of the feet and hurt like mad and, yes, they are the correct size. They have actually put me off purchasing Ecco shoes permanently. Certainly not good value for money this time.

I have been buying this particular style for a number of years now because they are easily the best most comfortable brand of shoe on the market. Still impressed by them.

I found these shoes difficult to review as they are for my 92 year old mother. I believe that the name is misleading - they are not anywhere near as soft as the original Ecco Soft shoes. They are lightweight and they seem well made. Just don't expect the original Ecco Soft shoe.
