Product Description

Review

As an experienced renal dietitian, I highly recommend this book to people with early chronic kidney disease. For those with more severe kidney problems, I also recommend their companion book, Eating Well with Kidney Failure. --Sue Perry, Chair of the Renal Nutrition Group of the British Dietetic Association

This book could easily be used by anyone who wished to follow healthy eating guidelines and was looking for some new inspirational meals. I have already tried out a few of the recipes and thoroughly enjoyed them. --Helen Millar, Specialist Diebetes Dietitian, Glasgow

I like the book and think it reads nicely. I'm sure it'll go down well. --George Hartley, Chief Renal Dietitian, Freeman Hospital, Newcastle-upon-Tyne

About the Author

Helena Jackson and Claire Green are both renal dietitians at St George's Hospital, Tooting, and Gavin James is a Clinical Services Manager at the same hospital

Having been a diabetic for a number of years with kidney problems, due to the prescribed tablets I have been using I also developed high potassium levels.
My NHS provider suggested this book, with good results.
This is the one book I would suggest to anyone who has similar problems

Only for those in early stages of CKD 3 Dec. 2011
By Susan M. Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I was disappointed in this book and the fact that the basic review online did not state that this book is for those in CKD Stage 1 to 3. I just received the book and read the introduction which states the information is aimed at those with mild to moderate CKD, categorized as Stage 1 -3. The introduction also states that those with less than 30% function should seek other advice. I need information for Stage 4 and 5. I would not have made this purchase had this information been provided.

eating well for kidney health 22 Nov. 2011
By margo clyma - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I was very disappointed in this book. The nutritional statistics for each recipe are not listed. And since this book is published in England it is awkward to interpret the recipe amounts. I would not recommend this book for those who are looking to keep a failing kidney working at its best.
