5.0 out of 5 stars James Martin excells with this book 15 Mar 2000
Format:Hardcover
So, you've got friends round tonight and what are you going to cook? The problem is if you get stuck into something complicated, you'll have no time to spend with them.

Plus, we have all experienced the dreaded list of exotic ingredients, which are never on the shelf at the supermarket when you need them. We don't all live next door to a Chinese supermarket or Italian deli you know.

Help is at hand with "Eating in with James Martin". The book has sections such as Starters, Light lunches, Main Courses, Dinner for Two, etc. Each have really good quality, easy to prepare (and cook) recipes. I have cooked about half of the book over about a year and have had few problems getting any of the ingredients or interpreting the directions. James has also included some really useful tips in the book, plus he suggests alternatives to many of the ingredients.

Provided you have a reasonable cooking technique, you enjoy Italian/French style cuisine, you will absolutely love this book. If you are looking for inspiration, there are plenty of them here.

5.0 out of 5 stars James comes up with all the goods 30 July 2002
Format:Hardcover
James Martin's book is full of colour, vibrancy and such a friendly touch that it's so difficult to put down. He writes in such a style that is palpable to even the novice, he has an effervescent style which makes him irresistible. Now onto the food...SIMPLE! Divine! He even has a recipe for a proper bacon buttie and you cannot fail to make it the proper way how he describes it. Why, it's like he's in the kitchen with you!

His dishes are all so delicious, I've even made his tzatziki dip and my friend proclaimed it was the dog's! SO thanks to lovely James for that!

There's nothing like a James Martin! Just wait til you see what treats he's got in store for brekkers. I have to say, this is the best cookery book I've got in my possession and I'm not letting it go without a fight! And I'll win!

I am not a very good cook, but this book has been a great help. Written by the most talented chef in the world, the recipes are easy to follow and it doesn't take 6 hours to cook a good meal.
