Product Description

Product Description

Enjoy chocolate, cheese and pasta and still stay slim! The original eating plan from internationally renowned author and dietician Michel Montignac, who lost 2 ½ stone in three months. This classic book contains the simple food rules that will keep you slim and still allow you to eat your favourite foods. Based on the GI Diet, Michel reveals the secrets of good nutrition so you can lose weight and live healthily forever. The Montignac Method challenges the traditional dietary wisdom with the bold claim that to be healthy and to lose weight we do not have to starve ourselves. All we have to do is follow a nutritionally balanced diet that excludes saturated fats and carbohydrates with a high glycemic index. First published in 1987, Eat Yourself Slim, a condensed version of the Montignac Method, has gone on to sell over 16 million copies. This new, revised edition contains all the latest research information designed to help people lose weight, stay slim and be healthy!

About the Author

After a career in the pharmaceutical industry Michel Montignac decided to start researching nutrition with the aim of overcoming his own weight problems. Montignac designed the principles of an original method for losing weight and became the first person to have had the idea of using the Glycemic Index Concept (practically unknown at the time) to lose weight.

Refreshing ideas 3 Oct 2010
By Sarah35
I bought a previous edition of this book many years ago but never adopted the principles as it all seemed a bit too scientific. However, with age, I am increasingly recognising that Michel's principles are sound - with an emphasis on unprocessed foods being central to the eating plan. The book takes a bit of reading over to understand it fully but it's worth sticking with and offers an intelligent analysis of how food is digested and how unbalanced sugar levels can wreak havoc with your body. I firmly believe that Michel is onto something and by looking at his website you can see that it has had very positive results for people who have followed it in the longer term. I am two weeks in and feeling less bloated, lighter and have more energy. I also feel that I am being kind to my body by avoiding white refined products and sticking with brown and unprocessed foods. A good read - buy it!

Eat yourself slim 10 Aug 2011
Probably the most boring diet recipe book I've ever read. Totally NON- inspirational. I struggle to even read it, let alone use it.

The science is excellent, backed by peer-reviewed references. I have the original books in French from the 1990s but just wanted to see a recent publication with the updated scientific data. I paid £[] for this hardback which is not only on poor quality paper but also contains spelling/translation mistakes eg p246 'Separate yolks, playing (placing) eggs in one bowl...'; p83 'wholegrain beads!(breads); p31 '...but also he or her will likely gain even more.'(she); p10 'dieteticians' (dieticians); p9 'Michel Montignac was the first nutritionist in the word...' (world)and there are others. Had I known I would never have bought it and now will look for the original French version. No wonder it is now reduced.
