Product Description

"Eat, Drink, and Be Gorgeous is filled with sound nutritional advice on what to eat and drink and how to repair the damage when our good intentions slip. A delightful book, as entertaining as it is educational." Nicholas Perricone, MD

"You've heard people talk about the 'feel-good book of the year'? Well, Eat, Drink, and Be Gorgeous is the 'feel gorgeous book of the year'!" Karen Salmansohn, author of Hot Mama and How to Be Happy, Dammit

"For a more compassionate, flexible and trustworthy guide, check out "Eat, Drink and Be Gorgeous" by registered dietician (and go-to nutrician expert) Esther Blum. Not only is "Eat, Drink" fun and funny, it's actually encouraging, sensible and written with the average (change-averse, willpower-deficient, sweet-toothed) person in mind." --"Publishers Weekly", December 10, 2007

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to learn about healthy eating! 23 Jan 2008
The way this book is written makes it a really fun and amusing way to read some pretty highly technical and specialist advice about everything you need to lose weight, tone up and still keep a life. Very funny and very informative at the same time. It has inspired me!

totally disappointing - there is absolutely nothing of any great interest or value in this book - compared to to 101 Things to do before you diet ... by Mimi Spencer. Also Madame Blum is a trifling condascending in her tone ... its off to the Hospice Charity Shop with this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars sound advice with a fun twist 27 Aug 2007
By Kara Stephens - Published on
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I love this book. I'm so sick of looking at diet books that tell me I have to cut out everything enjoyable if I want to look good. The problem with those books are you go on the diet, restrict yourself from all the food you love, lose weight (probably because you're starving yourself), go off the diet, gain the weight back. This book is different. First of all, it's not a diet book. If you want to lose 10 lbs. in 10 days, this book isn't for you. But if you want to learn how to eat healthy so you can have the body you want without going on another diet, then I suggest you check it out. There are great tips on what to eat and how to prepare it, how to drink the occasional cocktail or glass of wine without starving yourself the next day, and what supplements are all about. This book really seems like something you can follow for the rest of your life to be healthy and happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but not informative 20 Jun 2011
By Jane - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
As alluded to by other reviewers, this book lacks the type of hard diet information most people looking to lose weight need. If you want truly outstanding nutritional advice that isn't talked about in mainstream books, I recommend The Ultimate Diet Guide - For Busy Women! No Starving, No Food Restrictions, No Gym Workouts Required!

This book was a fun read. So if entertainment is what you want, get this. But for me personally, I was quite disappointed with the quality of information.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ladies - we can stop taking ourselves so seriously 26 Aug 2007
By Nancy E. Kissam - Published on
And Esther Blum shows you how.

This fantastic guide gives you helpful and healthful advice on how to balance our diets without hurting ourselves or giving ourselves guilt every time we eat a piece of toast. It's fun, informative and an absolute delight to read. You feel as though Ms. Blum is in your living room (or sitting next to you on a stool during cocktail hour) and talking to you like a friend who knows her way around nutrition.

Thank you Ms. Blum for alleviating my guilt. Now bring me a glass of Cabernet and some Flax Seed Oil!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a realistic book about nutrition... 27 Aug 2007
By A. Karol - Published on
I finished this book cover-to-cover and it was fabulous! It is not a diet book- it will not tell you how to lose 50 lbs and it's not intended to. It's about enjoying life and food in moderation so you can look and feel your best. Esther teaches us how to nurture our bodies with healthy food and gives great suggestions for nurturing our spirits as well. Perhaps if more people followed the advice in this book we'd see a decline in obesity as people developed a healthy, sensible relationship with food. An enjoyable, informative read- I'm sure my copy will soon become well-worn from constantly "referencing." I've also recommended it to every woman I know.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Fabulous and Smart 19 Oct 2009
By Allison Taylor-scharf - Published on
This book is a great read, it gets to the heart of most women's issues and gives great tools to help them deal with issues in a realistic way. I have used many of these tools in my practice and it's wonderful to have someone put it together in this way.
