I have been contemplating buying a porch awning for my Eriba Puck L caravan for use during the early and late seasons when the good old English weather is far from it's best. Made to measure porch awnings are very expensive (£500) and dont give you alot of space. The Easycamp Silverstone is absolutely ideal. It is the ideal alternative, is simple to erect and is extremely roomy. The only thing I would suggest, if you decide to buy one, is to invest in a draught skirt which fits to the bottom of your caravan, this will make the package complete and snug.

I have not yet been camping, but I have put up the awning in my garden and already have some reservations. It is possible I didn't get the tent taut enough, but there is a huge pool of rainwater in the roof. I wasn't sure what would be included in the pack, and what was an optional extra and there was no space on the order form for these. In fact the fixings for the awning were just the three clips to go on the rim of the roof, and I doubt these would hold it in a gale. I will now order the extra guy ropes mentioned in the description. The tent was advertised as having a sewn-in groundsheet, but it hasn't. Only when you get it do you find that it is strongly recommended NOT to try to erect it on one's own. My partner hates camping so this was not welcome news. In fact, a 70 year old woman, I did erect it on my own. The second hoop is difficult to insert, but by using guy ropes to stabilize the tent it is possible. However, the instructions (good idea to have them sewn in the bag) were not comprehensive enough for me. My more practical partner had to come to my rescue twice. More diagrams and views of the tent would be helpful. For instance, the poles are not colour linked as stated. Not that this is necessary, but inserting them in the ring provided was puzzling, as there were two rings and a spoke. My partner solved the puzzle by poking the spoke up the pole - well he would, and uniting the two rings. Later he found that I had incorrectly fastened the metal clips to the van roof rim. A diagram would have helped me get this right. Driving away from the awning took me back to the instructions. How does one secure the bit of awning left dangling? No help there. Surely in a gale the flapping of this large loose panel will cause the whole tent to collapse? I read today from another review this is exactly what happens! This is an appalling design fault which I hope will be remedied by Easycamp.

Very disappointing and an expensive mistake. It was unstable when left as a drive away awning, as there are no guy ropes at the rear end. We returned after a day out to find the awning had collapsed in the wind exposing the contents we had stored. We wanted to use it as an extra sleeping area but because it doesn't have a sewn in ground sheet, the wind blew uner the camper van and the tent billowed out like a wind tunnel making it very cold and unpleasant. There are no tethering points along the sides so it can't be made taut and secure, and it flapped around in the slightest wind. The only use for this awning, iis to sit in as a canopy in hot weather, then it's very pleasant. I emailed Easycamp with my concerns but had no reply or explanation so not impressed with their sales team. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy this product it is not fit for purpose.

Easy to erect and repacks nicely into its bag. This awning survived unscathed through hurricane Bertha recently...need I say more?
