Excllent battery pack with rather bright flashlight 4 Dec 2013
By Zachary S. *Tech Reviewer* - Published on Amazon.com
The Easyacc 3000mAh battery pack is a small and sleek with a brighter LED flashlight than most other battery packs I have. This battery pack has a built in extra bright LED flashlight that is surprisingly bright but not as bright as an actual flashlight. This battery has 1x USB port that is rated at 5 volts/2.1 amps and a micro USB port rated at 5 volts/1 amp. I like that I can charge it using a micro USB. The unit is made of black plastic. I can charge my iPhone 5 1 time and a little more. To start charging all you do is press the power button with your device plugged in. There are 4 LED's to check how much battery is left. Each LED stands for 25% of the battery's capacity.

The packaged also included 2 micro USB cables, a lanyard for your wrist and a necklace to hold the battery around your neck.

Extra notes/ specs:
Capacity: 3000mAh
Input: DC 5volts /1 amp
Output: DC 5 volts /2.1 amps
The package also includes a white micro USB cable with the battery pack.

Overall, this is a portable battery that is easy to carry around.

I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promised that my review is fair and honest.

Compact rechargeable flashlight and emergency power boost 1 Dec 2013
By Ali Julia - Published on Amazon.com
EasyAcc®U-bright 3000mAh is a single charger with built-in flashlight. To test this charger I used a current monitor and a 10 minute charging test to provide a less abstract measurements of this charger. These tests allow me to compare various chargers to each other in unbiased way based just on their performance.

There are two things I like about this battery: its size and its flashlight. The charger is very compact so it is easy to carry around or hang where you might want an emergency flashligt. Its charging speed falls in the middle of the pack of the external batteries I have tested and I am able to get one full charge of the phone out of it. Its flashlight, however, is very bright. It is much brighter compared to a typical tiny flashlight that is often built into an external charger. I find having a small bright rechargeable flashlight very useful.

The charger weighs 2.5oz, its size is 4.25" long and 0.875" wide. The charger comes with two straps. One strap is 32" (long enough to hang around your neck), the second one is 12" long (good length to put around your wrist). To thread the rope through the little hole just keep pushing the end of the strap from the top and it will eventually appear in the side hole. The package also includes two charging cables: 23.5 inches and 8 inches.

➨ How I tested this power bank:

I have been testing external power banks for a long time, and people often ask me why results differ so much from charger to charger and often port to port. The results are different because they are affected by a number of factors. To help with a numerical explanation of the differences I began using a USB current monitor which shows the voltage and the current flowing between the battery and the device.

The amount of energy transferred from the charger to the device is calculated by multiplying voltage and current. Most of the chargers are 5V devices and most devices show the voltage very close to 5V. The interesting number is the current as it varies from unit to unit and from port to port.

The current varies based on what the device requires and what battery provides. This communication happens using different protocols depending on OS. Newer Android OS versions have adapted their protocols to get better performance from ports aimed at Apple devices. An addition variable that effects performance is whether a data cable or charging cable is used to charge the device. The charging cables short the two data connections together (rendering them useless for data transfer), but this fools devices to see the cable as an AC power connection, and thus accept the higher current of the charging source.

The 10 minutes test consists of charging each mobile device on each port of the battery pack for 10 minutes and measure how much each unit was charge in that 10 minute period. Since the charging speed is non-linear I start charging each device from approximately the same charge level. I use Battery App by Elvison to determine how each device recognized the charging source. 'AC' status means the charging is at full charging rate. 'USB' status indicates charging at a lower charging rate. 'Discharging' status means that the charging rate is below the power that the device is consuming so it slows down the discharge rate but does not re-charge.

➨ Test Results:

✔ Samsung Galaxy 7.7 tablet
10 minute test: ~~~~~~ AC rate ~~~ 3% in 10 minutes (charging cable)
current monitor: ~~~~~ 1.32A, 4.86V (6.42W)(charging cable)

10 minute test: ~~~~~~ discharging (data cable)
current monitor: ~~~~~ 0.42A, 4.95V (2.08W)(data cable)

I received this charger from the manufacturer for an honest review be it positive or negative. I like its compact size, bright flashlight, and ability to hang it by the included strap.

One fatal flaw... 24 Jan 2014

It's a nice external battery, for its part. 3000mAh, in that size, with 2.1A output, is an excellent combo. Your devices will charge rather quickly from the 2.1A port.

My only complaint -- and it's a big one -- is with the switch that controls turning the light on and off. Unlike other similar products, which require one to hold down the power button for 2 seconds or so to engage the flashlight, this one employs a "double-tap" system. Unfortunately, it interprets far too many accidental contacts (as much as over a full second apart) as "double-taps", and so the flashlight tends to turn itself on and off -- a LOT. It's not so bad if you catch it, but I've already opened my computer satchel a number of times to find that the flashlight had turned itself on somehow, and for who knows how long. So one could easily go around *thinking* they have a fully-charged spare battery pack, only to find that they in fact have a partially or completely exhausted one, simply because the flashlight kept turning itself on and draining the charge.

A very compact portable battery charger suitable for many users 21 Nov 2013
By J. Chambers - Published on Amazon.com
The EasyAcc 3000mAh portable battery charger is a bit bigger than most lipstick tubes, but not by much. In any case, it's the smallest, lightest portable battery charger that I've personally used. With 3000mAh capacity, even allowing for normal electrical losses in the internal circuitry and cables, the charger should give at least one full recharge for cellphones, and perhaps half of a full charge for most 7" tablets. That's enough to extend talk time or operating time by several hours. To test the charger, I used my Samsung smartphone and my Kindle Fire HD 7". With the Kindle Fire, the charge increased from 56% to 88% in seventy-one minutes. Then I connected my phone, which charged from 74% to 100% in sixty-five minutes. These times are comparable to the results I've had with other portable battery chargers. At the end of that time, the battery charger still had enough reserve capacity to top off the charge on my wife's iPhone 4. To recharge the battery charger, I used an old Kindle AC adapter with an output of 5V~0.85A. The manufacturer recommends an input of 5 volts at 1 Amp maximum. Two USB cables with micro-USB plugs are included, but you'll need to use your own AC adapter (or recharge from a USB port on a computer).

Like many other portable battery chargers, the EasyAcc U-bright 3000 uses a simple system of four LED lights to indicate its own charge state. It also has a very bright built-in flashlight. An unusual but welcome feature is an included lanyard that fits through a small opening in the case.

The portable charger is ideal for someone who needs an occasional boost to extend their talk time or get a few more hours use from a tablet. It's not suitable for someone who's away from an AC power source or vehicle charger for hours or days (such as hikers and campers), but for the typical cellphone/tablet user, 3000mAh should be sufficient.

A product sample was provided by the manufacturer for review purposes.

Works as expected for the money. 31 Dec 2013

I bought this battery charger and Flashlight because I wanted to be able to carry a little extra power with me for my Galaxy Nexus Smartphone and if the power goes out, I have extra power for emergency's. Its takes 4 hours to charge the GNex from 35% to 100%. But what is nice about this charger is the flashlight. Its NOT a direct beam like a Maglite XL50, but its a wide beam which is pretty bright and is good for finding things in a room in the dark and lighting a small room during a power outage.
