Product Description

Now with a new foreword from veteran cop and private detective, Scott Thrall, who says: "I have been in law enforcement for over 32 years. During my career I have investigated crimes and worked with victims both as a patrol officer and detective. I found the insights into investigation, research and police procedure shared in ‘The Easy Way to Write Crime Fiction That Sells’ to be spot on."

Book includes an up-to-date listing of hot crime markets and an exclusive free e-book from The Easy Way to Write on purchase.

Now you can easily imagine, plan, and then write your own Crime Fiction Novel - and, who knows, perhaps you too can become a bestselling author!

Rob Parnell's brand new master-class on writing crime fiction shows you how.

Have you ever dreamed about writing a sensational bestseller? On Amazon Kindle? Or with a traditional publisher?

If you have, then there's no better place to start than by writing an exciting and page-turning crime thriller. Because, being a crime fiction author means you get respect - and book sales - even Hollywood film deals.

We all love a great detective!

From Sherlock Holmes to Alex Cross, there's something hugely compelling about characters that are driven to solve crimes.

And what better way to become wealthy than by following the clues left by all the great crime fiction authors like James Patterson, Kathy Reichs, Lee Child, Dennis Lehane, Agatha Christie and many others.

Rob Parnell says: "My theory is that investigative detection is really a metaphor for the writer's life."

During the 1930s, when the first crime fiction boom began, writers like Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett wrote about hard-boiled private detectives pursuing clients - and payment - from small grubby offices using nothing but their grit and determination - a clear analogy to the writer's life!

These struggling writers became overnight successes - and their names live on to this day.

In these more sophisticated times, crime detection has become a serious technology based enterprise. We have computers, forensics and FBI profilers.

Instead of petty thugs and roving husbands, we have serial killers, professional hit-men and drug lords that confound the best efforts of law enforcement.

But there's one thing that hasn't changed.

And that's the humanity of the detective - and the writer.

Recently I was at a publishing seminar with some of the biggest publishers on the planet - and here's what they were saying: "Crime Fiction is the Next Big Thing".

My guess is that this conclusion has a lot to do with the release of "The Cuckoo's Calling" by Robert Galbraith (AKA JK Rowling). Publishers were inundated with fantasy manuscripts when Harry Potter was hot. Now, Joanne Rowling is expected to introduce millions of new readers to the crime fiction genre with her latest novel.

Which means crime fiction writers everywhere will benefit!

My guess is you probably need guidance before you start your own crime novel. That's where I come in. I've been teaching creative writing for over a decade to my 100,000+ subscribers. My website, The Easy Way to Write is considered one the top writing sites in the world. In fact, I'm often called "The world's foremost writing guru." (Blush) I've made it my life's work to help writers achieve success.

Here are the modules contained within this book:

Module 1: Setting, Character & Criminality
Module 2: Investigation, Research & Procedure
Module 3: Plotting, Dialog & The 3 Act Structure
APPENDIX 1: Current Crime Fiction Markets
APPENDIX 2: More Easy Way to Write Resources

If you're planning to get a crime thriller written and published soon, this is information you won't find anywhere else!

And it's information you need right now!

Keep Writing!

There's no real meat on these bones... Frankly you can get more info on the net... I can't remember what I paid... But even free would have been a waste of effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Easy Way to Write Crime Fiction That Sells is a Simple, But Not Easy, Process No New Writer Can Ignore 28 Feb 2014
By C. William Anderson @theseinspire - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In just under a hundred pages the author managed to teach me a good deal about writing crime stories that people will, I hope, pay money to read. Mind you, I think his title is a bit misleading - just as Parnell notes - it isn't easy to research and organize one's thoughts into a narrative that will satisfy today's sophisticated reader and arm chair sleuth.

Easy, of course not. But, as the author displays, the process can be broken down into three repeatable steps, but I'll not give any spoilers here.

I should add, though, that I was skeptical after reading a glowing comment by a man claiming to have 32 years in law enforcement, because when I surfed to that person's web site, about all I could see was a reference to affiliate advertising or some such thing. However, as I read further, and upon receiving an email from that reviewer, I began to appreciate Parnell's sound, logical, well-informed approach.

Further, I read one of his fiction books, Nine Tales... and realized that Parnell is able to write fiction that keeps my attention, which is no easy feat.

I also found that, even though he does provide links to publishers and to some of his other books (courses) on writing, he does provide a thorough presentation within the 92 pages of this book, priced well below its true value to any new writer.

So, I went from skeptic to believer in less than 72 hours, even if I do think the better title would be, The Simple Method to Writing Crime Fiction, subtitled, So Long As You're Willing to Work Hard to Succeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Resource 8 Mar 2014
By Proud Kindle Owner - Published on Amazon.com

This book was very interesting to read. Although I didn't agree with his bout at the end about traditional publishers I will use this book to write my crime novel. It renewed in me a sense of excitement and pride to be a crime fiction author. I love the outline he suggest and also the list of other interesting crimes to explore. Very good book.
5.0 out of 5 stars great companion to writing! 5 Jun 2014

I found this book extremely helpful. It teaches to write crime fiction in easy steps. Something that before seemed too big became just a task, maybe not so simple, but something that can be done, and what is more, I can do it!
4.0 out of 5 stars Practical Advice 17 May 2014
By Mike Lewis - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Somewhat surprisingly, I really enjoyed this book, even though I determined that writing crime novels was not for me. Never the less, his three modules of crime writing makes a lot of sense; he details everything from the setting to the plot as well as developing an intriguing character! Alas, I discovered I lacked the imagination to put his ideas on the written page.

It is a good guide and well worth the money.
