Easy Two

Sometimes a CD comes along that takes you by surprise and within seconds you get a lovely warm toasty feeling listening to the music.

Now usually I get this feeling when I turn to a song or an album that I've known for ages,the ever faithful stand by from a classic artist that you turn to in moments of need(mine is usually Nick Drake),pressing play on the CD player or on the pc and instantly you are transported to a good feeling,a mood changer be it raising you up or down from where you are at that point in time.

I was so pleasantly surprised to get that feeling with this CD-from the get go it took me into a real good mood.

The songs have a wonderful range of styles that are interlinked by the special voice of Frank Joshua.
'Rain' is a special heart shaped song that burns like a toasty warm fire,'Bluebell Wood' offers smart electronic noodlings to a real builder of a song.
'Kiss' is a gentle folk song in a a singer/songwriter mode which reminds me of Richard Hawley.
'Cry blue' is a pop song the likes of which haven't been as well delivered since Prefab Sprout were in their pomp.
'Mad about you' is a shimmering pop song with the lovely glow I am starting to expect from Frank Joshua.
The final track 'Kiss' see's Frank in a duet with an unknown(to me) female singer and this version adds a nice alternative take on the previous version.

All in all,this is a wonderfully warm and brilliantly delivered CD.
If you like artists like Prefab Sprout and Richard Hawley and the lesser know but not lesser talented Cleemann and Dan Whitehouse; you will love this.
It really took me by surprise and I really like surprises like this one.

I've known Frank for a few years now and his sound has really developed. Production on this album sounds great!

There comes a time in the music industry that a new category is sorely needed. Since there is so much music put out these days. Discovering (worthy) up and coming artist is kind of like finding out who's got the flatulence problem in a crowded elevator of strangers. Well let me tell you, Frank Joshua (along with his music) is one of those worthy up and coming on strong artist. All one needs to do is to have a listen. A short listen is all it takes for the realization to set in that this artist truly cares about what he delivers to his presumed audience. His cup (art) runneth over in abundance with tonal quality. Therefore listeners (destined to become fans), on tone alone, there should be an category for Vocal Tone. Then to solidify the qualification of the recipient, we take into account the masterful arrangement, style and down right "feel goodness" of the track. This artist has what's been missing in the (recent) world of music. Pure pride in his craft, which is evident in the first 4 bars of each track. So, grab a cup of Joe (coffee for you new-schoolers)along with the thickest, softest robe available. Then (if your in a warm geographical area)turn on the AC to its' highest setting and let Frank Joshua and his warm vocal texture increase the Fahrenheit in your day. And the "Vocal Tone Award" goes to...(pause, now wait for it) FRANK JOSHUA!!!
