5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant and penetrating 17 Oct 2011
By Bodhi Heeren TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Franklin Jones aka Da Free John was an enlightened master, very much in the tradition of the maverick mystic. And apparently he went even further than other recent 'left hand' masters like Gurdieff and Osho. So far indeed that today he seems almost forgotten (and hardly forgiven) with former students and disciples like Georg Feuerstein, Ken Wilber, Saniel Bonder all turning against him.

Yet this book - compiled and edited by Feuerstien - was heralded by the likes of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Ralph Metzner, Larry Dossey when it was intially published. And with good reason as this may be the BEST book ever written on the subject of Death, dying and after life. Da Free John writes in an engaging but also very matter-of-fact style and his views are clearly based on penetrating, personal insights.

Stating clearly that any thought of personal survival after death is naive, misleading and even dangerous for our spiritual growth. And that true release is to disolve once and for all in the One, the Source. And here he agrees with modern interpretations of The Tibetan Book of Dead as well as Ramana Maharshi and Osho.

Despite using his own terminology - amicably explained by Feuerstein - everything is clearly laid out in an easily understandable way. And though ofc no one can 'know' what will happen after physical death this book rings true and touches some deep and profound layers in the reader's psyche and soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars you have to read this before you die! 9 July 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I read about this guy in the online web-book, Stripping the Gurus. It is admitted in that book that Franklin Jones was a genius. In the early years, that is. Back in the day, Franklin Jones had resonance and gravitas and before the 1980's, this man was praised as being an Avatar by people like Allan Watts.

This is very mysterious and very very odd. They say that the early Franklin Jones was the real deal and when he became Adi Da Samraj, he re-wrote all his books and ruined the message. So I bought an old second hand first edition of Easy Death and WOW!!!!

This guy knows! Read it before you die!

5.0 out of 5 stars you have to read this before you die! 9 July 2013
By Halifax Student Account - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Easy Death is forwarded by the renowned near death expert, Kenneth Ring, and there is a spellbinding essay on death by the great yoga scholar, Georg Feuerstein. Feuerstein's essay is worth the buy alone. Also, the blurbs on the back page are very impressive. Who was this guy?

A quick google search led me to the online book, Stripping the Gurus. This was a crazy character indeed! However, it is admitted in that Franklin Jones was some sort of genius, that is, in the early years. Apparently, Franklin Jones had resonance and gravitas and before the 1980's, this man was praised as being an Avatar by people like Allan Watts and Ken Wilber. This is very mysterious and very odd. They say that the early Franklin Jones was the real deal but then he declared himself an avatar! This isn't a good move.
So I bought this book, just to see for myself.

When he became Adi Da Samraj, he re-wrote all his books and ruined the message. So I bought an old second hand first edition of Easy Death and WOW!!!!

I bought a 1983 edition of the book, and, I have to admit, this Franklin Jones guy was a very smart operator and if he got knocked over by a bus in 1983, then his name would be spoken in the same breath as Ramana Mahaeshi's!

So this edition is worth your time!
