Her fresh, exciting designs have been featured in several magazines and in Rowan's Collections and books. Carol loves to bring would-be knitters to the craft, and runs workshops teaching a range of crochet and knitting techniques. She lives in Glasgow, Scotland.

This is a nice book having clear pictures to describe the crochet stitches well for beginners. Some of the projects are simple enough for beginners but I think one or two are a little more challenging, which is not a bad thing as you can advance through the book. The projects are a good mixture including hats; scraves, mittens, cushion covers, poncho, shawls, a little evening bag & some jewellry chokers. Some of the projects include beading & and the book teaches you how to do this. All in all it is a lovely book & is a welcome addition to my collecton.

Having never crocheted or knitted before this was was an absolute first for me, and I'm happy to say that thanks to the detailed instructions and clear photo's and illustrations I'm now well on my way to a crotched felted bag!! However, I did wonder if I'd missed a page when I moved from practicing the basic stitches to trying to follow the patterns. It did get a little bit confusing, but I kept at it and kept referring back to the illustrations and seemed somehow to work it out. This is the first and only crochet book I have bought so I have nothing to compare it with, but on the whole I am very pleased with it and most of the patterns are really good, particularly the jewellery.

With all books of this type there are items in here I wouldn't spend my time on - however, there are also plenty I can't wait to get into. The bag on the front is one such item, there's another with stripes, slash handles and felted, and a square envelope bag - very neat and suitable for day or evening use depending upon yarn. Instructions for working crochet are given and one of the best things is that no particular brand of yarn is used - just typical types such as DK Aran weight, or 4 ply. There are 33 items, such as chokers and belts, scarves and flowers, together with cushions, throws, hats and mitts, a shrug and a couple of wraps. Altogether not a bad selection, well illustrated, plenty of colour photos and good clear instructions.
