Product Description

With just a few basic crochet skills and clever use of beads and sequins, you can easily create beautifully embellished garments and accessories. This user-friendly book features 20 gorgeous designs plus a wide selection of beaded borders and trims. Choose from wonderfully tactile sweaters, wraps, hats, scarves, bags, cushions, and throws, each with an easy-to-follow pattern, recipe of materials and equipment, and tips on special techniques used. Create a delicate lace-effect shawl; a fitted sweater with sequined motifs; a funky bag with bright beaded chevrons, or a glamorous vintage evening scarf. Core techniques are clearly explained and illustrated with step-by-step photographs, from holding hook and yarn and working basic stitches to reading patterns and finishing off your work.

Great selection of nice and quite trendy projects, that look really good in the pictures too. Having made a couple of these already - the twenties scarf and the beaded beret - I can tell you they are easy, and I'm not a crochet expert. The other good thing is the first part, where there's a kind of refresher course in techniques, which I reckon is enough for beginners to pick this up.

Not just for the novice crocheter 7 Feb 2007
By M. Poller - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Book begins with 35 page introduction for beginning crocheter using American terminology (author is English and book was first published in England). This is very useful. Many of the patterns use the beads only after the piece is finished as applique or at the edges. The projects that I find especially interesting are the beaded ruffle scarf, beaded beanie, twenties inspired scarf, slash neck vest, beaded tunic on cover, bikini top, cap sleeved wrap and beaded throw. There are several jewelry items, bags, hats and household accessories. Yarns used are listed at the back. Pictures are good but I find the print a bit small. Yarns are descirbed as sport weight or whatever but the new international number terminology is not used. I think this book is very good with a lot of fine projects to help me use up my leftovers and yarn stash. Highly recommended.

I got this and I made one of the purses in it. the instructions are easy to follow the only little problem is some of the yarn the cost is high and some hard to find. I wish in these books they give you another yarn you could use.and list some places where you can buy the yarn used
