From Amazon.co.uk

Easy A is a frothy, fizzy, and funny romantic comedy for teens--and adults will love it too. Not since Clueless has a high-school heroine been able to delight both audiences, and Easy A's Olive (the sparkling Emma Stone) is a stellar young star. But Easy A benefits from a great script by writer Bert V. Royal and assured direction by TV veteran Will Gluck. Olive is a smart girl happy to stay in the shadows of high school, until her good friend, Brandon (Dan Byrd), who's gay, begs her to pretend to have sex with him so the rest of the school will stop picking on him. She obliges, but soon she picks up not one but two reputations--as the girl who sleeps around, and, on the down-low, as the girl who'll pretend to sleep with a guy so he won't be branded a virgin. Soon Easy A's complications pile up higher than the entrance of Olive's high school, and her two story lines, neither of which reflects the real Olive, take on lives of their own. There are backlashes and blacklists and repercussions galore. "I always thought pretending to lose my virginity would feel a little more special," muses Olive. "Judy Blume should have prepared me for that." Stone is accompanied by a strong supporting cast: Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson as her bemused parents, Gossip Girl's dreamy Penn Badgley, the freshly unretired Amanda Bynes, Thomas Haden Church, Lisa Kudrow, and Malcolm McDowell. And it's to the cast's and the writer's credit that the audience is kept engaged, and guessing, till the very end. Easy A should be awarded exactly that. --A.T. Hurley

5.0 out of 5 stars Super sharp comedy worth seeing 24 Oct 2010
By Stampy
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Emma Stone stars as Olive, a lonely heart who lies about losing her virginity to her best friend and soon rumour spreads she is a slut. Initially mortified Olive parades around the school as a slut, wearing an `A' on her clothing but soon she ends up in trouble.

Described as "the best teen comedy since Mean Girls" this is a must see because quite simply, it is. The comedy variety of clever performances, physical humour and beautiful word play make a combination of knockabout comedy a treat for anyone over 15 years of age that will entertain you for a glorious hour and a half.

Emma Stone in her first major leading role excels as a typical but not yet typical teenager going through life's friendship and educational battles, and thankfully with a difference. Olive narrates via an internet blog about how everything came about and her life and school reputation changed. Through some original narrative design and comic brightness audiences are easily engaged into the world of its heroine.

Stone's performance is indescribably funny. From singing alone in her bedroom to strutting around in revealing clothing and making us laugh at the same time has made her a star for the future. One scene where she pretends to have it on in a bedroom is very funny and whilst marketed as a comedy, the inevitable drama sequences show Stone as a rock.

Stone steals the film but thanks to the experience of Stanley Tucci and Thomas Haden Church we have an array of comic genius. Tucci has never been funnier.

The plot boasts some great twists and turns whilst marketing some great songs on its soundtrack. The way it separates itself from the normal comedy, by diversifying itself through visual aids such as the live web blog or plot differentiations makes it one out watch over and over again.

A couple of drawbacks include the fact Lisa Kudrow cannot shake the Phoebe tag and the ending is slightly predictable.

These minor things aside this is a knockabout comedy with a great lead performance that is certainly worth checking out.

5.0 out of 5 stars This movie gets an easy A+ 19 July 2012
Format:DVD
I enjoyed this movie a lot. I found it funny, and worth my time. Don't worry the humour isn't as bad as mine. Sorry for the lame pun, but I just couldn't help myself. It's a good movie for a laugh, or night in. I'd say that it is a movie mainly for younger women though. That seems to be the main audience. My only warning is that you will get Natasha Bedingfield's Pocket Full of Sunshine in your head. You won't stop singing it for days!

4.0 out of 5 stars Witty take on a well worn genre 7 Feb 2012
Format:DVD
Easy A is sharp, funny and witty. It takes the basic formula of a teenager outcast from the cool kids at school and turns it on its head. Its starts outright with a narration from the lead character stating this isnt your typical teen drama, which in most senses its not, although it does follow some of the basic rules of this type of film. Throughout the film you follow a rumour spiralling out of control and the consequences of going along with it rather than nipping it in the bud. What starts as an innocent misunderstanding soon snowballs into the hottest news the school has ever heard and transforms one girl into the queen bee. Whilst she never really embraces her new found fame, Grace clearly relishes the new found attenton she is getting and the decides she may aswell help others in their quest to become a cool kid! The ending is pretty formulaic but the journey to that point is entertaining and this is mainly due to Emma Stone's great performance. She brilliantly takes on the role and runs with it showing she has some great comic timing whilst keeping in touch with the human side of proceedings. The film is well paced and feels original even though all its doing is dressing up the usual cliches found in this type of movie, but much like the equally entertaining Mean Girls, it transcends the normal teenage audience to appeal to adults as well and it does so with style and genuine laugh out loud moments. Well worth a watch if sardonic, dry humour is your style.
