Product Description

Product Description

Global travel is a key influence on interior design. An eclectic mix of Eastern and Western styles is fast becoming a classic style for the 1990s: a clean-lined, contemporary look that spans cultures, embraces old and new, and celebrates the handcrafted.

East Meets West shows how to create the look, mixing colours, textures, and objects. It looks at new applications for furniture and illustrates original ideas for windows, walls, furnishings, and tabletops. Calm simplicity, clear colours, uncluttered lines and subtle textures -- this is a style that works in any space, anywhere.

Stunning yet Simple 9 Oct 2002
By KR
Format:Hardcover
What I liked best about this book was Kelly's explanation of how to use simple backgrounds and cheaper materials in larger quantities, with smaller, more dramatic and expensive items to give a room the 'wow' factor. If you assumed that the only way to reproduce the Kelly Hoppen style was to throw tonnes of money at a room, you were wrong, and this book shows you why. Stunning and inspiring.

Format:Hardcover
This book is full of page after page of understated elegance. Beautifully simplistic, the photography shows Kelly Hoppens flair for combining texture, colour and design with an Asian theme. It offers the reader a wealth of ideas which are unusual yet stunning.
Also highly recommended is 'In Touch' by Kelly Hoppen which offers a more contemporary style of decorating based around the contrast of textures.

Disappointing. 14 Feb 2011
Format:Hardcover
Quite a disappointing book. I had expected a much more contemporary (read modern), and real attempted interpretation of East meets West. All it is Laura Ashley goes to India or Morocco for throw rugs or cushions, and China for porcelain to decorate a Victorian house. Surely the author could have done more than just putting a Buddha head on a table, or wrapping a potted plant with Chinese printed newspaper. A very trivial interpretation. Useful as a coffee table book, especially if you plan to spill coffee all over it.
