11 of 11 people found the following review helpful By KR on 9 Oct. 2002
Format: Paperback
What I liked best about this book was Kelly's explanation of how to use simple backgrounds and cheaper materials in larger quantities, with smaller, more dramatic and expensive items to give a room the 'wow' factor. If you assumed that the only way to reproduce the Kelly Hoppen style was to throw tonnes of money at a room, you were wrong, and this book shows you why. Stunning and inspiring.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful By A Customer on 28 Oct. 2001
Format: Paperback
This book is full of page after page of understated elegance. Beautifully simplistic, the photography shows Kelly Hoppens flair for combining texture, colour and design with an Asian theme. It offers the reader a wealth of ideas which are unusual yet stunning.
Also highly recommended is 'In Touch' by Kelly Hoppen which offers a more contemporary style of decorating based around the contrast of textures.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Jane Austen on 14 Feb. 2011
Format: Hardcover
Quite a disappointing book. I had expected a much more contemporary (read modern), and real attempted interpretation of East meets West. All it is Laura Ashley goes to India or Morocco for throw rugs or cushions, and China for porcelain to decorate a Victorian house. Surely the author could have done more than just putting a Buddha head on a table, or wrapping a potted plant with Chinese printed newspaper. A very trivial interpretation. Useful as a coffee table book, especially if you plan to spill coffee all over it.

5 of 7 people found the following review helpful By A Customer on 27 April 1999
Format: Hardcover
The designer exemplifies the quest for a meaningful interior design, which neither bows to the modern western nor subserviently serves the simple eastern. Her main endeavour is to create design which has its roots in harmony. The idea of combining the east with the west has been achieved successfully in all the examples and the text. A very intriguing piece of work.

Superb book bought as a gift. It is now out of print, so purchased second hand, and arrived in such good condition, could have passed it off as new.
