2.0 out of 5 stars This is North Child re-released with a new name 18 Nov 2011
By PeterG
This excellent book by Edith Pattou is better than the cheap marketing trick being played.
I read North Child, loved it and went looking for more.
Amazon pointed me to this novel, which I bought, only to discover that this is not a sequel, prequel or any relation to North Child.
It is North Child with a different title.

4.0 out of 5 stars East of East 30 Nov 2004
I always love the 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' story and was curious to read this one. It turned out like reading a fairytale put into the real world, with places and time in history. It was so amazing :) and the heroine not just win the white bear then married him, happily ever after. This book gave a more believable start, process, climax and ending with help from magic since the cursed bear was born out of magic (the goblin's) too so it was only fair.
I only have small problems in reading it. There were some dialog/thought not properly put into a character and they sometimes made me stop for a while to think it over. I also feel the start was kinda slow. But overall, I enjoy this story of Rose and her White Bear, specially about the birth-direction myth.
A fairytale came to life :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 7 Jan 2012

Well, this was mind blowing! At first I thought well this is just some folkish book but once I got past the first chapter I got pulled into the book. This book made me love polar bears. It is full of adventure and made me smile! After I read it I had my friends read and they enjoyed it just as much. I highly advise you to read this book. If you read this and decide that you want to read more, dont consider North Child because it is the same book. Next I am planning on reading Hero Song.
