The chair looks really nice, no bright and gourdy plastic so fits in nicely with the kitchen/dining room.
Fitted together easily enough and seems really solid.
As well as been much better value than the 'trip-trap' of similar design, I actually prefer this one!
Simple wooden tray is easy to clean (no grooves, compartments etc.)
We had to buy a seat cushion type thingymajig because our six month old is develpoping a laid-back slouching approach to weening, but apart from that the chair is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone - save yourselves the hassle of looking any further and just buy the East Coast. It should last a long time and as it doesn't look babyish, our baby is less likely to grow up and refuse to sit in it in a couple of years time. Great purchase!

Very sturdy chair and easy to keep clean. Downside is that the tray does not move and babys tummy can get stuck whilst getting him in and out. Hard to get him into when he refuses to bend his legs.

I'd recommend this chair for anyone who expects to supervise their baby in it!

On the up side
It's very sturdy, and ours is still in daily use as a chair by adults and children 8 years on. It's so comfortable it gets the most use of any of our chairs. It's had a lot of abuse in that time, including being used by adults after having some of the bolts removed by inquisitive children. Somehow, it's in one piece after all of that.
It looks good, is reasonably easy to clean (not perfect), and is easy to adjust and assemble

The negatives
The straps aren't great - they only attach at the base so it is easy for a child to wriggle their shoulders free.
It is possible for a child who is trying to escape to wriggle down the gap at the side.
Without cushioning, babies can easily tilt sideways so it is not suitable for young babies who cannot sit up straight.
Dried on cereal is tough to remove as it goes into the crevices at the edge of the tray, and soaking/scrubbing it destroys the finish.

Overall this is a OK baby chair (does the job and looks good, but must supervise), but a fantastic child's chair. (I'm about to buy another.)

Although this chair looked great in our kitchen and was very solid we've now replaced it with a folding one with a removable tray which we find much more practical.

I purchased the cushion for this chair because at 6 months our little one used to slip around in the chair, and it seemed very hard for her. I found it quite difficult to work out how to fit the cushion so it didn't get in the way of the harness. The cushion seemed well padded and comfortable for the little one - but as it was so padded there were lots of folds where crumbs got stuck, and I don't know if I'd put the harness on in the right way, but I'd had to unscrew the ends of the harness to get the straps around the cushion, so I couldn't then easily remove the cushions for cleaning.

However, the worst fault I found was that the harness was only secured at the base - and once our little one got more adventureous she was soon able to climb out of it! One evening I had her in the highchair and wanted to look up something on my laptop on the kitchen table - next thing I knew she was peering over the top of the laptop screen at me!!!! Next day I went out and bought a new chair with a harness with 5-point fixing points. She seems much safer in the new chair and hasn't managed to get out of it yet. Since getting the new chair which has a removable tray I find that much easier as I can take it off and wash it under the tap at the end of each meal, which is something I couldn't do with the East Coast chair.

We've kept the East Coast chair to have as a spare one when friends come to visit, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I love the east coast wooden high chairs.Attractive at table, easy to keep clean and adjustable. I have one for both my boys aged 2 and 5.The tray comes off when weaning is completed, so child can sit around table properly in an elevated position. The seat is adjustable, and straps removable so it grows with your child. My 5 year old still loves his and my 2 year old is very happy with it too.

We bought this highchair for our 11 month old son as we wanted a highchair that could be used as both a stand alone highchair and at the dining table for family meals. This highchair does exactly what we wanted, the tray comes off and enables him to eat his meals with us in comfort and safety. It looks great and is adjustable so will grow with him. More importantly he likes it and sits happily in it unlike his previous highchair which seemed to be quite constraining. Even better is the customer service from East Coast, having lost the screws for the tray I contacted their online customer service and recieved a prompt and pleasant reply with the new screws sent in the post at no charge. I cannot recommend this product enough its fantastic value, is easy to assemble and adjust, It looks and feels Sturdy, very easy to clean and I have every confidence it will adapt and last as my son grows.
