Fun:
My Son & I think the East coast Express 1 & 2 addons are excellent. The blue flashes on the pantograph of the class 91's are very realistic. The route is accurate with good key features, especially at York & cooling towers between Doncaster & York.

We have many addons & this is one of the best, well worth the 2 year wait. Great price too !

Note: We had Maglev 2005 installed & East Coast Express wouldn't work until we un-installed

Maglev.

Fun:
Since purchasing part 2 of this addon I have not been off train simulator. I have not only enjoyed playing the activities but also creating my own.

I also feel the inclusion of the class 89 (the infamous "badger") as another great addition to the pack.

If you have purchased part 1 you should purchase part 2 and let train simulator join the two to create one extensive route.

A good add-on 14 May 2008
Fun:
This is a good add-on. The graphics are good, the stations are very detailed, the rolling stock is really excellent, the starting sounds of the GNER Class 91 and 43 are very very realistic, the same goes to the Class 220 Voyager. Signals can be seen a long way off.

My only criticism would be to say that there should be some extra trains in stations, sidings and loops, people on the platform waiting for your train instead of seeing a deserted platform when approaching a station, and in some locations where fast points should be placed there are quite sharp slow crossovers, so hitting these at high speed and crossing over would not be realistic at all.

Other than that the add-on is very good fun to play, if you have the East Coast Express Part 1 installed the two add-ons will link together creating one long route, and there are even activities that go all the way from York to London! But even if you don't have Part 1 there are still 12 activities to play, which are excellent.

On the whole it's a good add-on and I can recommend it.

Poor
I am an actual train driver for GNER. This is a shockingly bad representaion of the real thing. The trains handle superbly on the sim, however I cannot say the same for real life. Read more
