This is a made for TV movie brought to us via the Syfy Channel,so you kind of know what to expect.Once more the Earth is in danger of being wiped out, this time from being hit by dense matter from an imploded white hole, which has devastated the planets rotation. The only thing that can save us is finding the location of a lost satellite,so as you can see its a story as mad and way out as most b-movies of this kind. You get the run of the mill characters, untrustworthy Government agents, maverick scientists and a teenage computer wizz,in short there is very little new or original on offer here. But this doesn't mean that Earths Final Hours isn't worth a look, because oddly it is.The mad plot rattles along at a fair enough pace, the effects, for the most part, are ok,even above average for this type of film in some places. The acting is pretty solid as well, which is a good thing, considering just how bad some of the dialogue is.In short is a solid enough b-movie that manages,on occasion,to be greater than the sum of its parts.

There is a much cheaper version of this film, released by Anchor Bay Entertainment, available here on Amazon.

If you think of buying the DVD because you are attracted by the image on the front cover (as I was), which looks very promising for this kind of film, you will be disappointed: this scene does not exist in the movie. It is a complete lie and willingly misleading advert. The same thing can be said about the exciting main image put on the back cover: you won't see anything like that in the film. Shame.

Regarding the film itself, personally I found the scenario rather disappointing, with too many improbablities. To give an example: a lack of imagination permitted the scenarist to use three times the same trick: a sudden 'storm' with special 'lightings' strucks and kills the badies without touching the goodies (only a few metres away) just when the latter are in an hopeless situation. What an extraordinary luck! Once, you could concede if you are not too exigeant; but three times, really... That shows the care given to the film. With the misleading advertisment, it shows what this movie is all about: making cheap money, by all means, for the producer.

My personal advice: to watch if you are not difficult about catastrophe film and don't have anything else to watch more interesting. I give 2 stars, but I may be too good...
