As one who grew up with EW&F in the 70s, I tore the wrapper off like a kid on xmas morning, fired up my DVD player and prepared for the show with a cup of my favourite beverage. The first few old promo videos are brilliant! Dated yes, but great none the less. Boogie Wonderland is such a simple idea, yet it provides such a spectacle, especially on the slo-mo shots! The later efforts, such as Magnetic and Heritage are disappointing, owing more to M. Jackson than M. White and co. The standard improves with the live clips, although I would've loved to see a video of Fantasy but you can't have everything!
Disc 2 is from the US TV prog Live By Request, in which various punters phone or email the song they want to hear. In spite of the fact that only 3 of the original line-up are present, and the studio audience are remarkably restrained, this is a total and utter treat! A brilliant performance by all involved! Massive horns, tight keyboards, superb bass from Verdine White (see Getaway) and the soaring vocal talents of Phillip Bailey. One last gripe: no Maurice White! Still, Get it, you'll love it!
