(Stop The Music).. has the sort of chorus that makes you go a little bit wobbly and misty-eyed and we like it very much indeed. --Popjustice (Song Of The Day)

Yes, we can all mourn the loss of the polka dots and other two Pipettes from the debut album, but things have moved on, as any biography will tell you. If you loved the catchy pop of the debut album, I see little reason for you not to take this album to your heart too. It feels more like another debut rather than a follow-up album because of the many changes, but the all-killer-no-filler pop is still there, with verses that are as loveable as the choruses. This album cheekily ends with the lyric, 'go right back to the start', which is what I can't help doing each time it finishes. It's the catchy tunes, pretty vocals and pop-disco sound that makes me press play again and again. It's an album that's been worth the wait. Good luck to the new-look Pipettes, and good riddance to the tedium of line-up changes. Buy it because you're worth it and you'll get your money's worth from repeated plays. Thanks for reading.

Dusseldorf Beckons ! 12 Jan 2011
By The Wolf TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE

The listening world's music press have not been entirely kind
about The Pipettes second album 'Earth vs The Pipettes'.
It depends how you like your pop I guess. Shallow? Mindless?
Vacuous? Tick all three if you are a grumpy curmudgeon! If
on the other hand you don't mind a bit of harmless jollity
then these twelve tracks might be right up your street.

We find a trimmed-down edition of the original line-up here.
It has come down to sisters Ani and Gwenno Saunders to carry
the brand into perpetuity with the guidance and inspiration
of writer/producer Robert Barry (aka Monster Barry).

The album is unremittingly upbeat and nothing wrong with that.
It's all a bit rough around the edges and clearly hasn't got the
kind of money behind it which propels the likes of Girls Aloud
or The Saturdays into the airwaves and you know what, if there
has to be such a thing as a girl band then I'll settle for this
one please! Yes, there are shades of Bananarama here and a glimpse
of Sophie Ellis-Bextor there but I'm not gonna complain because
I like them too. The tunes are good and that's what matters.

Things kick off with a real stormer in the shape of 'Call Me'.
It's got the kind of chorus which (however cliched) wants to make
me sing along with my hands in the air (not a good look for any
carnivore over fifty I know!) It's got more than a whiff of
Hazell Dean (remember her?) about it which is bound to make it
a winner in my books! The crisp and dry harmonies are delightful.

'Thank You' is another perfectly lovely composition. The
flattened Southern-county vowel sounds make it extra special!
Pop by numbers for sure but completely sincere and unashamed.

Things don't get sillier than 'Our Love Was Saved By A Spaceman',
a ridiculously infectious slipping and sliding confection which
comes so close to skidding off the rails that my paws began to
sweat and my tail tremble with the threat of impending catastrophe.
Mr Barry somehow manages to bring his proteges safely to the end of
their journey in one piece and with their dignity relatively intact!

'Stop The Music' seems to have become a particular favorite in
The Wolfcave. The spirit of Sophie E-B seems especially close-by
on this number. A Freemasons mix would turn it into disco heaven!

Final track 'From Today' kicks off in moody mode (there's a
church bell ringing dolefully in the distance) but suddenly
out of the mist there appears a verse and chorus which is
nothing more or less than pure Eurovision. Now there's a headline.
The Pipettes To Represent The UK In Dusseldorf This Year!

Worse things might happen in the world!

Recommended.

good delivery and good condition - good pop songs, not as good as the first album, but still worth a listen.
