Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

More beats from LTJ Bukem's showcase of slow tempo contemporary music. Though previous compilations have suffered occasional lapses with odd tracks suffering from artists competent in the art of drum & bass but failing to make the transition to other forms, this fourth in the series to date is certainly the most convincing. This has been achieved through supplementing the material from GLR veterans Artemis, Big Bud and Tayla with tracks from artists who have featured on the label's Cookin' subsidiary, launched as a club and EP series in 1999 to considerable critical acclaim. "The Bloc" from Ed Morris sets the tone with a laid-back slice of breakbeat before the album shifts up a gear by way of the cinematic funk of K Scope. Highlights however come from Lacarno, who offers up a curious 4/4 fusion piece and a slice of South America from production maverick John Beltran who lays down an enjoyable Latin epic in the form of "Aztec Girl".--Kingsley Marshall

Something a little different can be a really nice thing. The 4th effort in the Earth series brings some sweet jazzy lounge and some laid back house. Yes, I wrote house. And no, I did not write Drum and Bass.

Gone is the dreamy melodic acid trips, and the spacy drum and bass. It is replaced by medium tempo tracks that give the entire CD a really nice feeling from start to finish. The CD feeling is completely funky and jazzy, nothing big and in your face.

One problem is that the layout of the tracks are a little choppy. It seems that minimal production work was done on this album which leads to songs being slightly faded out and the listener being jolted by the start of the new song. A little more effort and this CD could have been mixed, which would have made it complete.

brilliant construction 27 Mar 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The album starts off in a 'film noir'-esq style jazz and expands into a sun-sparkled and upliftling series of jazz-funky tunes. With some soothing female vocal work this vol. 4 collection is great for reflective moments enstilling peace and pleasure. Most chill and beautifully crafted with some 'good-looking' talent ;).
Danny Bukem is way, way out there.

Very chill 21 May 2001
By Dave Bisers - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Like the last review said, this is not a jungle album. The Earth series the LTJ Bukem is occupied with smooth house, r&b, and what might be considered tip-hop. If you like Kruder and Dorfmeister you'll enjoy this too. A great album to chill out to ( I also use it for studying ), my favorite track from this is John Beltran's Aztec Girl. It has a great vocal track and incredible synthesized horn sounds. I recommend this to anyone how enjoys intelligent electronic music.

A Change Of Pace 21 Sep 2000
By Star Wilkinson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Well, LTJ Bukem is back with his 4th installment of the Earth series. Right off the bat you are in for a total change of pace from the Drum & Bass King. This has much more of a House feel with lots of interesting blends of dance mucic of all kinds. If your a hardcore D&B fan chances are this is not up your ally, but if your open to a nice smooth and fun ride down the fresh dance highway, this is going to be a treat.
