Take some top notch drum loops a floating bass line and some soaring harmonies over the top. Seems simple formula doesn't it, but you trying writing drum and bass this good on you Pc's or groove box. Do what you gotta, tokyo dawn, above and beyond, are amazing tracks, This is an amazing album listen to it once you will wonder how you ever lived without, life will never be the same again. This is not for your jump up massive, big up yourself crew. However to often drum and bass is to be danced to and not heard. This album is different as you can chill out to this in your bed room as well as dancing your arse of to it. So a good job all round. so BUY IT NOW

What can I say? Had to buy this again due to it being stolen from so-called mates! Can't really blame them - this album introduced me to the more soulful side of the D n' B and has created a monster - to this day I still can't get enough of the Good Looking vibe.

The tune "Above and Beyond" is worth the price of the album on its own - a real clash of funky breaks and sweeping synths this one really grabs you from the tough intro onwards.

However, waxing-lyrical about one tune on the album would not do it justice, without a doubt there are no weak tracks on Earth - a rarity in the D n' B compilation market.

If you like your music funky, fresh (and sometimes dirty) - this is the album for you.......BUY IT!

'Earth' is the first volume in what has become a successful string of releases from the one and only LTJ Bukem. The concept of the Earth series is based on that of musical awareness and experimentation, pushing the boundaries of genre through the merging of styles to create something new. It also serves as a great foundation for the up and coming producers to gain recognition of their work. As Bukem himself states on the insert; "The reason Good Looking started the Earth series was to let our artists show that they are firstly musicians. This creative environment also enables new and forthcoming artists to release their material." The name of the production series is likely to be connected to the natural, 'earthy' sound of many of the tracks present in these releases where live instrumentals are frequently used alongside vocals and other acoustic productions. This first compilation from LTJ Bukem presents everything from funky breakbeat (check Poets of Thought: The Rhyme Goes On) and ambient jungle/drum & bass (check Appaloosa: Travelling and PHD & The Funky Technicians: Above and Beyond), to jazzy acoustic (Poets of Thought: Samba with JC) and LTJ Bukems' own special brand of laid back groove present in his track 'Moodswings'. Overall the Earth series creates an enjoyable blend of musical styles that draws from all genres and displays the broadness of LTJ Bukems' musical appreciations. The instrumentals and jazzy samples present in the experimental tracks are superb and combined with the ambient drum & bass and general beats that also feature they create an album that is perfect to relax to anytime of the day. Other artists include GLO veteran Blame, Doc Scott and Subject 13 with a jazzy yet atmospheric drum & bass track early in the CD....

A Great piece of work that just oooooozes quality.
Jazz at its Best...Track 7 and 9 stand out from the rest but what a cracking Cd.
Ltj Bukem and friends, give us an early Master Class in how mixing should be done.
