little more to say - perfect for the coffee table - even better for those who are unable to get out as much as they would like. Anyone with an ounce of love for this planet would treasure this book

Make sure you know which size cube book to buy when getting this series. The mini cube books don't do the photography justice inside as they are too small to open out properly. Bit disappointing really. THe bigger version is a much better buy.

DO NOT BUY THIS MICROSCOPIC BOOK 9 Dec. 2011
By desertman - Published on Amazon.com

I already have the original CubeBook for The Earth and it is truly wonderful. Today I received my order of 3 CubeBooks to give as holiday gifts. Sadly, these were designed for creatures from another world. They are tiny and not worth even looking at. Amazon has the dimensions stated wrong. They are indeed 2.5" cubed. The binding breaks as soon as you open them. Whoever decided that this "mini" CubeBook would be a great idea must have been on some weird, mind(IQ)-altering drugs. I'm sending them back immediately. They are useless. The original version is wonderful though. I'd give this tiny version zero stars if I could.

The colors and shapes of beautiful earth 5 Dec. 2006
By Shalom Freedman - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
The mountains, the deserts, the forests, the seashores, the great plains and rolling hills of the earth seen from above at different times of light are incredibly beautiful in this book. The text is secondary and small , but clear. literate and helpful.

This book is the small treasure which it is pleasure to look into from time to time.

so inspiring! 9 Feb. 2005
By Mimi - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This is a great book with so many gorgeous pictures than are really inspiring... I spent hours in the sun flicking through the pages, looking at the beautiful photos taken around the world.

The only part I went through quickly was the 'mountains' section where it was just too many photos of similar snowy mountains one after the other.

Other than that, I highly recommend it!
The Earth in all its beauty, splendor and wonder. 12 Oct. 2007
By J. Guild - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
A simply beautiful book of several hundred magnificient photographs. The book is 6 1/2" X 6 1/2" inches and 2" thick. The photographs are double page, full page and few are partial page in size. The paper, printing and color rendition is excellent. Every page is glossy which results in the pictures being as good as they could possibly be in book form. There is some text, but it is general in nature. As a matter of fact,I read only a few pages of the text and thus my rating is based on the photographs alone. Nearly all the photographs were taken from the air, therefore the detail is is sacrificed for the overall scene.
I found that since most of the locations of the photographs were listed on a page other than the photograph;that it was a nuisance to keep turning back and forth,so in the end, I just skipped it and went ahead and enjoyed the pictures. Another thing I found missing was any explanation of the picture. In most cases,it doesn't really matter;but in others an explanation would have been appreciated. For example,pages,254-255,626-627,and 134-135.) I am very familiar with Niagara Falls and the plethora of photographs of this magestic site;but feel the photographs on pages 390 and 391 are less than inspired.
All in all though, the book is excellent and filled with panoramic photographs that are breathtaking.
Perfect for daydreamers 14 Dec. 2009

I purchased for my room mate and best friend for Christmas last year, and it turned out to be the perfect gift. We are both avid outdoorsmen, and I thought this would be something to flip through while we were stuck at the University on weekends. The photographs are amazing, splendidly varied, and organized into sections so you don't have to dig through the pages to find the right picture for your mood. I would get lost looking through this book, the pictures really take you somewhere beautiful. Purchasing again for another friend this Christmas.
