2.0 out of 5 stars Lost in Translation? 10 May 2012
By Bruce TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
This is obviously a German documentary of indeterminate vintage, which has been hastily "converted", by the addition of an English language commentary and a bit of "snazzy" packaging, which grossly oversells the contents.

Leaving aside the quality of the images, what strikes you initially is the dull monotone of the commentary, which may have meant something in German - but here is rendered meaningless and eventually perplexing by the translation. It is quite annoying and makes you want to either fast forward or turn off the sound.

Least bad part of the package was the sound, which was pretty good in Dolby 5.1 surround - some nice music, which worked well, but was mostly covered by the annoying commentary.

Of course most people are going to be drawn into buying this by the promise of : "breathtaking landscapes and astonishing animals" in 3D. Well if this is what you want, then you will have to look elsewhere. There were a few nice images and some decent 3D effects in places. But these were quite rare and drawn out beyond any necessary length.

Mostly, the visuals were distinctly lacking, in comparison with other 3D Blu Ray documentaries - like Flying Monsters (Blu-ray 3D)[Region Free], Cave Of Forgotten Dreams (Blu-ray 2D + 3D Blu-ray) [Region Free] etc.

If you are looking for HD 3D, then this is just not up to the mark and there are far better Blu Ray discs out there. The cover gives a completely misleading impression and this is one to avoid.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst ever !! KEEP WELL CLEAR !!! 12 May 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
This is the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune to watch.
Avoid buying. I can honestly say that it looks like someone has purchased a very cheap 3d camera and tried to make some money. Although it is a blu-ray the picture quality is not. The camera constantly sways about and goes in and out of focus sometimes the subject matter goes completely out of frame !. The narrative is terrible it's a German made film and the script has been ran through babelfish or some other online language translator and it really really terrible. They also must have found someone on the street who could speak english to actually read the script. KEEP WELL CLEAR. Sometimes a bad film can be watched because it is funny this is not ! I have my own 3D camera which was 200 and I can honestly say that I could make a better production than this. The good points ... It ends. I don't have to watch it again I put it in the bin ! The music is ok.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awefull 19 May 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
DO NOT waste your money buying this! The cover is not a true reflection of the disc content. If you think like I did that the disc would be about wildlife you would be wrong. Some of the shots are blurred, repetative and bad colour. If I could have given zero stars I would. Possibly the worst disc I have EVER watched. Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor performance 16 Dec 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
This item promised much from write up however the performance was wretched. The 3D effect was totally missing most of the time and when it did try and appear the picture was extremely blurred making it impossible to watch. This was the only one of three brand new Blu-Ray 3D discs played on brand new Epson EH-TW6000 projector which did not perform to specification. Very disappointing so item was returned and full credit was given. The only redeeming feature of this purchase.

This is an absolute disgrace!!! Do not touch it with a barge pole. Not only is it not filmed in real 3d, it isn't even 3d at all, your 3d tv's 2d to 3d mode would produce a better effect than the one on display here...and it gets worse, much worse! Not only is it not in 3d, featuring neither real 3d depth nor projection at all, but it is not at all in blueray quality NOR EVEN IN DVD QUALITY. Yes, you heard that right, people. The footage is at times (and at almost all if NOT all times) a VHS blurred disgrace. There is not one hd image at all, and the rest is below the worst dvd standard you could ever hope never to find!

I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS ITEM AND FEEL THAT IT IS FALSELY ADVERTISED AND BORDERLINE (AS IN 'OVER' THAT BORDERLINE)CAUSE FOR A LAW SUIT.

I FOR ONE WANT A REFUND. THIS IS NOT WHAT I BOUGHT, WHAT WAS SOLD TO ME ON THE BOX NOR IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION.

KEEP AWAY FROM THIS!!!! THERE IS ONLY ONE REASON TO BUY THIS: TO SEE HOW ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL IT ACTUALLY IS.

BECAUSE OF THIS RELEASE, I WILL NOW NEVER BUY A 3D NATURE DOCUMENTARY ON ITS RELEASE DATE EVER EVER AGAIN - CAUSE ENOUGH FOR ALL OTHER 3D DOCUMENTARY MAKERS TO SUE THESE LYING THIEVES TO KINGDOM COME.

OVER AND OUT!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars poor quality 18 May 2012
By V7
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
Opened this product in anticipation of spectacular view of planet earth. The filming and animations were of poor quality, not even in true HD in my opinion even though it was recorded in blue ray. The 3D quality was exceptionally poor on my 55" Samsung TV. The sound was only in 5.1 surround and the commentary poor.
