I have lots of friends who've bought balance bikes for their 2-3 year olds, and only we have this one. Weirdly, all other bikes are too heavy, or difficult to maneouvre, and only our lad regularly uses his balance bike, while other tots struggle with metal, or even other wooden ones. Also, have a look what you see in the parks & roads... I can honestly say that I have never seen a 2-3 year old riding any other balance bike (maybe they do round the garden) but few kids in our local park, who have this, or the other easy rider. My son learned to use it in a day when he was 22 months, last summer, while we had thought he might not learn that summer at all, thinking that he's just too young, as we've never seen these out & about. He did more than a mile ride to supermarket and back on it within only few days, much to our surprise, and regularly goes to out on his bike, for mile/two, or round & round in the garden. Also, I'd like to mention, kids learn to control their speed, and there is less danger of going too fast as with the scooter, for example. I have seen kids (mine and others) go down steep hills very slowly, "walking" the bike down the hill. You dont have to get off, or co-ordinate hand breaks as with scooters. It just is, for some reason, really well designed that its easy to steer, and easy to balance. Dont buy big & heavy balance bike, and don't buy a trike - this one really works!! Also, note that there are at least two sizes of early riders and you can adjust both steering, and height on the seat on them. This could explain the 'tiptoe' pushing mentioned in the other review - it is possible that the child is too short for the bike, or the height the seat has been set up. When they learn to balance and go fast they will definately push with the whole foot, for what i've seen.
